Agree, the ambiance is even difference on TV.
Wish we could bring back, correctly this time, the Bring on the Herd chant before they take the court.
It goes like this, the "on" is protracted. Bring Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn the Herd, Bring Onnnnnnnnnnnnnn, the Herd; this is the early 70's version from the Field House.
Easy to do, the team gives the broadcaster a "one Minute" warning, and they then tell the crowd, One Minute to Herd Time. The Cheer Leaders then start the Chant; Bring Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn the Herd.
It was electric, fantastic, dynamic, and ramped the crowd up so much that they were in every game from the first tip.
That's not I remember that. (Though, I'm not sure.)
The problem is that OOOOONNNNNN doesn't have a predicable, simple rhythm. And Mr KIndred steps on it anyway.
I remember
/Bring on the Herd, rest/
X 8th 8th X O
x = quarter note
8th = 8th note
O = quarter rest.
Simple, with a easy rhythm.
Think of TE--ta-ta-TE--rest. Arguably the two 8th notes should be dotted 8th-16th note.
