  • Marshall got a commitment from Indiana State transfer guard Cam Crawford - 6'5.   Redshirted last season.   Two years ago as a true freshman averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds a game.

  • Found the below info:

    "Enters transfer portal
    March 24, 2023
Crawford (undisclosed) entered the transfer portal Friday, VerbalCommits.com reports.
    ANALYSIS
Crawford appeared in 22 games (five starts) for Indiana State in 2021 and averaged 3.0 points and 1.9 rebounds across 12.3 minutes per game, but he didn't see any playing time during the 2022 campaign. The 6-foot-5 forward drew offers from Northeastern, American and Air Force, among others, before committing to Indiana State out of high school."

I wonder if he was unhappy at ISU or if he was "encouraged" to enter the portal?

  • Well, he started several games as a true freshman for an upper-tier Missouri Valley Conf team.  That's not nothing.

  • Both guards signed by Dan are low hanging fruit. Meaning they lacked D-1 offers, except for us.
It doesn't mean they can't play though. That remains to be seen. What Dan doesn't need is a longer bench.

  • Hopefully he has a James Kelly type impact, as Kelly also had weak numbers at Miami

Actually he looks pretty good and probably a good get for 3 years. But we need another PG badly.

ISU was 11-20 overall and 4-14 conference for next to last place in the MVC his freshman year when started a few games.

ISU picked up a new portal transfer forward and guard on April 10 and 11. It sounds like the coach may be rebuilding the team? Some coaches jettison players and find better players in the portal.

  • very little to go on.  first impressions: looks like a nice shooting stroke.  no examples of speed/quickness.

by the way, we should continue to play Missouri Valley Con teams.  we might play Drake in the Cayman Islands.  there have been some good teams from that con over many years.  have we ever played Indiana State?

    He what? lol

He started 5 games as a freshman and red shirted 2022-2023 it looks like. I pray it works out, but this is not the promising commitments to get us excited.

  • We needed a guard/small forward and DD got one.  Based on his freshman stats he is still an unknown unlike Cam Curfman was last year, who had proven he could contribute on the D1 level.

  • Just remember, it is a HIGHLIGHT video that only shows him in a favorable light, not showing his entire game. He had 66 points for the entire season (3ppg) he played and the video apparently shows all the points he scored in his one season? Maybe he will be a contributor or he may be like the current players on the MU bench who just take up space. Time will tell. I may be wrong, but I think the ISU coach recruited over him and has hit the portal to find better players. Isn't that a novel idea?

  • We needed another guard and got one. I?m fine with this guy. The one we should be questioning is Nutter.

This guy has 2-3 years left to play and can?t transfer again without sitting out (until he graduates).

We shouldn?t recruit anymore project freshmen. We should be going after these types of players.

Let?s wait and see what he does in our system.
