  • I read another Marshall poster on herdnation state that they visited the Indiana State board and a poster there was giving other posters there an "I told you so".  Something to the effect "I told you guys he was going portal and you all had him pencilled in as starter next year".  So he may not just be a discarded player.

I don't know that this guy is enough and don't know if he can rebound or play D, but I'd expect him to contribute for us in the top 7 if not potentially start.  His offensive game looks ok

So are you possibly suggesting that he will be NO threat to Marko's permanent seat on the pines??

  • I'd say the kid from Baylor would be every bit as good as Handlogten at this point in our portal boy's development.  Plus he played a lot better competition in practice.  Would be like coming home for him.

  • Same school, VMI, that "sent" us Curfman had a pretty decent freshman guard, Asher Woods, who has entered the portal.  6'3", 180 pound freshman from Newnan, Georgia.  Averaged around 14+ ppg, shot around 38-39% from field and around 32% on 3 pointers.  Believe this is same town, Newnan, near Atlanta, where former HERD player Jannson Williams' family lives.  Not sure but playing at VMI means that if this player is any good, he was a "marked" man for opposing defenses.  Don't know if Danny is looking for another guard with several years of eligibility remaining or not.  Woods was recently named the Division 1 rookie, or newcomer, of the year in Virginia basketball for the past season (among all D1 programs in that State).

  • Coach needed to come up with 35-40ppg of newly generated points to win SBC.   He has 3ppg to it right now.  He?s getting closer.

  • I'm hearing conflicting information. One says we will have another commitment here shortly, but another told me to expect more P-5 transfers to be in this weekend.

There will be at least 1 P5 big kid in this weekend

Probably Loveday from Baylor. It would suprise me if they got Batcho. But he would be a game changer here. Also a guy that could make things happen off the dribble. You can open up your whole offense. Well, and also guard against the dribble.

Batcho. As Scope said, he would be a difference maker here. But my guess is we will have a better chance at Loveday because he is from Gallipolis and went to Huntington Prep. He would be a good get also but Batcho would make us forget about Micah real quick. Still want to see a good transfer guard also.

This news is encouraging. Either of these guys will make us forget Teabagged

Still need a guard who can drive and shoot. Lots of them in D2 that can play

    Go Herd!

I just checked Loveday's statistics at Baylor. He hasn't much game experience at Baylor playing in about 13 games in each of his three seasons and averaging 3-4 minutes each season. He averaged 0.9ppg; 0.5 rpg abd 3mpg. Got to realize that Baylor is at much higher level than MU (3 seed in The Big Dance) so riding the bench wouldn't concern me. I think he has one season left, would dd take him with one season left?

And Batcho has 2 seasons left and a much better player. He signed with Arizona and transferred to TT. Batcho is very aggressive and quick around the rim. Just what we need and haven't had.

  • This is the frustration that me and a lot of Herd fans feel about the basketball team each offseason.  We always seem to need one more scholarship than we have because Danny refuses to move guys along.  You add Cam, a physical big and a quick PG to next year's team, then I'm feeling fairly optimistic about next season.  Instead DD only has one scholarship to hand out and it appears he is targeting a big man, leaving us thin again in the backcourt.  Like last season where they needed a 3-point shooter, a swing guard and a physical big from the portal.  But we only end up with the shooter.  Yes, they won 24 games last season, but with just a little more tweaking of the roster, that team could have easily won the conference and maybe even could have made some noise in the NCAA tournament.

    Yep

DD won't get out of his own way

Totally fine with honoring commitment but you had better identify talent and recruit better on the front end if not gonna move guys out who aren't good enough

That's on DD for bad recruiting

  • Not being negative, but it appears that MU might be the only offer given to Crawford if you look at Verbal Commits? I checked on him a few days ago and no schools were listed. To be fair, with his low statistics (3ppg) as a freshman and then being reshirted, a lot schools might not have know about him?
