  • A 6'7" combo guard.  VERY Interesting as the German soldier often said on the old "Laugh In" TV Show of years ago.  His Social Media indicates that in addition to MU, schools like Radford, Belmont, Seton Hall have already shown interest or offered.  Like the idea of going after solid talent from Eastern KY, which has been pretty good over the years.  If he has solid year next season, I'm sure some bigger schools will come calling!

  • So dumb. If he comes here and does well then he will transfer. If he?s a bust then DD will let him sit on the bench while taking up a scholarship for 5 years.

    Stop recruiting high schoolers!

While that could be true, with all the big boys using the portal, maybe it will lead to some really good high school talent that will be left untouched. Maybe a few of them grow into having loyalty for MU, and stay, maybe we get a year or two out of them, but i wouldn't stop going after high school kids all together. I think that's an opportunity the portal will proivde as bigger schools are basically going to take the top 50 recruits, and then hit rhe portal for the rest.

Agree with you 100%. Recruit all transfers with 2-3 years left. Then they are locked in unless they want to sit a year. It's a no brainer. Plus you get more film of them at the college level to see what they can do.

Those days are over brother. It?s time we accept this reality and adjust accordingly.

Sorry but as much as I love Marshall, if another school is offering my kid $100k+ then he?s going.

The only high schoolers we should take are one and done for sure NBA players which we can?t get.

  • I really feel bad for the high school athlete that would have normally signed with a mid-major or low D1 school.  Those kids are getting squeezed out by portal transfers.  Now a lot of those kids will have to play at a lower level for a year or two before being able to transfer up to a mid-major again.  Coaches need to think of it like the kid has gone to a prep school for a year and then bring them in with three years left to play.  Like Bust said, they are locked in under the old transfer rules after that where they have to sit out a year if they try to transfer again.  The only time I would bring in a kid straight out of high school is if the kid will be a difference maker and possibly put you over the top for the year or so they will be in the program, otherwise it is portal all the way.  I know you guys are probably tired of hearing me say this, but crap flows downhill and the power conference schools will pluck the cream of the crop from the mid-major schools, so we need to pluck the cream of the crop from the lower D1 schools and from DII schools.  It's just the way the system is setup now.

It's the only way forward. It's commonsense.
