Sure, for the most part nothing as changed, as the schools with deep pockets before will still be the ones with deep pockets and will be able to out right buy better players and teams. No surprise there. The big change is that those schools without deep pockets will be acting is a minor league/feeder system for those with more money. The days of Marshall finding and KEEPING a Pennington, Leftwich or Kinsey are likely gone. In the past the kids couldn't transfer without sitting out a year unless there was some 'real' reason or had graduated, but now with the free transfers and money flowing everywhere, it's going to be increasingly hard for Marshall to keep our stars. The solution is we have to do the poaching from deeper pocket schools for kids who aren't getting the playing time they think they deserve and/or getting the star players from those schools/divisions who are lower than we are. Getting a high school nugget, working with him, coaching him up to be a super star is likely going to be counter productive as once we help mold him into a great player, they will abandon us for greener pastures. That's certainly happening with basketball to this point.
I honestly hate the system that college sports is becoming. It's becoming harder and harder for me to follow it, and to care about it. What made college sports special for me is, if not already dead, is certainly on life support.
