  • Something under the covers here.  We have enough 'project recruits' that didn't have real offers.  This guy was supposed to be good so it doesn't add up no scholarship and red shirt walk on.  We are not loaded so if any good he should be playing.

  • Hardly any offers because of the hair. Then there's Larry and Curly lurking.

  • Something doesn't add up. Why so few offers and no really good offers if he is so good? Or is there a problem is why they stayed away. Who knows but something isn't right.

Moe's only offer this year was from the OVC school SIUE and a walk on offer from MU. His senior year in high school he had offers from Minnesota State; Robert Morris; Donny Jones and Stetson and SIUE. I think maybe some of the posters might be overrating him? Highlight films could make your mother look like a NBA player. If he looked good against some of the MU players in practice, he was playing against players who are really Division II talents. If he was good, he would have more offers or least interest from mid major programs, unless he has other problems or issues.  He has less offers now after a year of "prep school" than he had as a high school senior.  Think about that for a moment. I hope it works out, but we all know Dan biggest liability is his inability to recruit Division I talent.

Agree and that is my point. Either some are turning him into a legend in their own minds or what has been said on other boards about him being being a handful off the court are correct. I guess we will find out soon enough why he didn't have more offers.

  • DD likes to keep us guessing. Is that the staff's strategy? To confuse fans, MU brass and other opponents by getting kids with very few or no offers and lowering expectations?

  • people have said DD is approachable, that all you have to do is ask.  now that he is officially committed, perhaps one of you who hang around practices could simply ask him exactly how he came to Marshall.  which coach first knew of him?  will he be on the court this year or not?  was there a personal connection of some kind?  did he simply feel comfortable when visiting?  i don't really care who's paying his way, but somebody is.

Well maybe Danny feels he has to fill the spots of Goran and Marko after they leave. Even Moes own coach says he doesn't play defense which should fit right in here.

  • So the real question remains, who's paying the way at MU for 23-24?  Family?  Student Loans?  NIL funds?  Academic/other scholarships for the upcoming school year?  Essentially, he's a recruit for the 24-25 season, who if on campus this school year can do what redshirts are allowed to do.  Can be a lot of benefits from this, getting familiar with the team's system, other players, and work on personal strength and conditioning.

look at our roster.  our starting lineup is certainly nothing to brag about, & our bench guys are D-II guys.  if he can't compete with our bench players by time the season gets here, why's he here consuming NIL $?  & if he can compete with our bench & DD still RS him, then DD is basically broadcasting he doesn't wanna waste a year of the kid's eligibility b/c he considers the season a loss.  which i would concur with that opinion, but many on here think there's hope b/c of all these small conference cast-offs DD's brought in here out of desperation.

  • The thing I didn't realize until I watch that YouTube clip is that Moe didn't play organized basketball last season.  If he redshirts this season, then it will be two season away from playing.  That will also mean that he will be a 20 year old freshman.

When has Danny ever brought in a 4 or 5* recruit? We have had those in the past especially transfers. Coleman, Kane, corny etc,,, look at the freshman we used to get, Vanhoose, Slay, Taft, evans etc,,, Danny just doesn't recruit kids like this. I don't think he wants a recruiting battle. I think he goes in and recruits against low level D1 or D2 and goes the east route. Look at Huff? He brings in kids you can get excited about. Basketball recruiting is boring to say the least.

Vanhoose and Slay came in twenty five years ago. The only player we've brought in from HS that was a four or five star since then has to be Hasaan Whiteside. Coleman got kicked off the team at Louisville and found a safe haven at Marshall for a year. We lucked out on Kane as a partial and ties with Herrion.

Danny offered Friedrichsen last year (4 star) and he's at Wake. We recruited McKneely from Poca the year before that if memory serves me correct. Is he getting these kids? No, but history says we aren't going to get these kids. Danny isn't going to go after a kid with baggage, and you'd be hard pressed to find someone who came to Marshall as a transfer as a four or five star, that didn't have a question mark in the character column.

All I know is Danny's recruits are real yawners. We used to get some kids that had real excitement written all over them. I don't care if it was 5 years or twenty five years. He is NOT doing what is best for the Narshall basketball program. Holding onto kids that can't play 1 basketball is a slap in the face to the program and fanbase. These kids can get an education somewhere else just like they are here. Collins, Dillon. Early have all found schools to finish their education. But Danny will keep them sitting on the bench as long as they want. Again, how does Huff bring all these kids in but Danny can't come close? Think it may be vision, energy, understanding how to build a program and never stop recruiting? It's just plain sad imo!!!

I don't disagree about the players on the end of the bench, but now you're making it a moving target.

The conversation was four or five stars. That's pretty cut and dry. The fact is, we've never routinely been able to snag four and five stars. This isn't a D'antoni issue.

Excitement is a whole 'nother ball game. I'd rather play like Virginia and win 25 games a year, rather than worry about be "exciting".

We have got some very good transfers in here thru the years that was highly rated. If you think Dantoni's recruiting is good then you are out of your mind. We need someone in basketball like Huff in football that never stops recruiting and has contacts to get the job done. It's that simple!!! We are in a basketball conference that is begging us to be the big dog and we are going to blow it holding onto an almost 80 year old coach that just doesn't get todays recruiting.

But none of the four or five star players that you seemed to be thinking of flocked here before Danny. Coleman was a four star. Canty was a three star, Kane a three star. Maybe you can think of another four star we landed? Your original point was that Danny wasn't landing four and five stars like we have in the past. Fact is, we never do and never have. Again, not a D'antoni issue.
