I don't think it's official but word on the street is Coleman and Owen are gone for sure. They are North Carolina kids.

Yes, they are officially in the portal, as is Bri Godfey.

I noticed that HerdZone has already posted a 2024 Softball roster page, with everyone else on the roster minus the 2023 seniors and the three transfers.  I think everyone else makes sense to come back, so I think the transfer damage is likely done.

Agree. And UNC was only going to have so many slots on roster anyway with returning players and recruits.

It's a lot of fun when winning, but honestly, not so much when not winning. Hope it all comes out "still exciting".

You give up too easily.

No clue how it will work out. We've had two great hires (Stanton and Smith Lyon) and one bad hire (Steele) in the past 23 years. Get the right coach, things will still be fun and exciting.

Remember Smith Lyon built her teams with the portal and recruiting combined. Owen, Nester, Bickell, Michallas, Chelemen, Rice were all portal/transfers to begin with. It's important to make the right hire.

Godfrey signed with Maryland Terps of Big10. Sorry if this was previously posted.
