  • He takes a lot of direct hits with all those runs.

  • I would love to see what he could do at the WR spot.

  • I don't remember him running so well.  He looked good.  He has the wrist flick like Michael Vick.  His ball does wobble on occasion.

The things about a running QB, you have to sell that you are a legit threat to pass, to really get the most out of running and you are one play away from tearing a knee or an ankle sprain.

I figure with another year in our strength program, he'll probably be a handful to defend.

yes, he took a few hits but he is closer to a RB or WR than a QB when running.  he shows here that he's got good eyes and enough quickness and speed as a runner to avoid the worst.  you know the old saying- if you play not to get hurt....

lets see if another off-season matures him some, contingent upon the workout regiment/goals that the coaching staff/other potential experts gave him after the bowl game.

  • Lets remember that these are highlights of a redshirt freshman that started at QB halfway through the season.  So he has a lot of room to grow.  Will he take a big step forward this coming season?  Who knows?  If he doesn't then that is why Huff brought in McMahon.  Maybe one of the freshman take a big step forward over the summer.  It is up to all of them to put in the work over the summer to get better.  It won't take long for the coaches to tell who put in the work and who didn't once practice starts up again.

  • The only thing about "Guys, come on! he's just a freshman.....Guys he's new to starting...."

Is that the guy before him was a freshman that was new to starting....

The guy before that guy was a freshman/sophomore that was new to starting...

We have to sacrifice the last 3-4 entire seasons to on-the-job-train freshman and sophomores to play QB and it's definitely getting old, in my opinion.

    The fanbase agrees

Boring (bad) O + No conference titles = Small crowds

If you're gonna be boring or bad on O at Marshall you had better win conference titles

    Go Herd!

  • Gotta hope Cam has improved as a QB and more importantly, Trickett improved as an OC - learning not to put any QB in a position that he has to make a Tom Brady like throw or play all the time.

Huff and the staff knew this was a position that needed to get better in '23. We'll see what they did to make that happen.

The Rice transfer QB McMahon's film looks good to me. I did note that his INT %-age was a tad bit high though.

    Agree 100%.

Same applies to WR position.  We need WRs that have the speed or ability to get open if we are going to throw those go routes, dig routes and out routes.  Huff and staff knew WR was a position of need in '23.  Not just at the starting position but also depth.  2 of our 3 WRs transfered early enough that the coaching staff had plenty of time to address the issue.
