  • The good news is this website does not rank Fancher as the worse QB in the SunBelt.
The bad news is our highest ranked WR is the 21st best WR in the conference.  Some schools rank 2 WRs better than our best.

They do predict Marshall beating both ECU and VT.  They also rank the VT QB situation as the 2nd worse in the ACC.

  • If we win the ones they think we will win, I doubt we will lose the ones they think we will lose.

  • That article seems to assume our conference mates improved during the off season while we stayed the same.  If we make it through week 6 with only 1 loss, as they predict, I don't see us ending the season as a 6-6 team.

I'm counting on Huff making improvements on offense and being able to maintain the defense.  I think Legg will have the OL playing better and more consistent.  If Fancher improves or TJ beats him out for the starting role and a WR or 2 step up then we should be in contention for the east title.  Improvement at QB and WR is definitely an achievable goal.  Getting more production out of the TE position in the passing game would be icing on the cake.

  • I think the tight ends will be effective in both the passing and running games. The incoming TE?s may not have much numbers where they came from, but they seem to be quite capable of helping. They have size and quickness, so I hope they can be reliable for the QB?s and RB?s.

  • If we only win 6, it will be because of lack of offense.  Our defense should keep us in about 80% of our games.

If we can't convert 3rd down and can't match our opponents offensive output, fair or unfair, we need to make a move at QB.  I don't want to hear he's just a sophomore, growing mistakes and it's just his 7th start.

The "teach a high school WR to play college QB" experiment needs to end.  Having an athlete at QB is nice, but the talent and confidence between the ears matters just as much.
