  • Rumor is that The Greenbrier is planning to host an MTE next year. I think Justice is smart enough to comprehend that in order for him to make money on this game or on an MTE, he is going to need to sell more that 50 tickets. So let?s see what the plan is before you crucify someone. You are a smart guy, Bust, with many outspoken (albeit repetitive) opinions, but we?ve seen a number of those walked back over the years. I do appreciate your enthusiasm, so keep firing away. ✌️

  • What is "MTE"?

Multi-Team Event. Like the Cayman Islands tourney.

Wish I could be as optimistic as you. But I see a dreadful season. We didn't even come close to replacing Kinsey, Taylor and Micah. We have to hope the SB is down more than ever this year to even be competitive.

  • Other than Bluefield, I think it's a quality schedule. Just not sure if this team will be up to the task.

  • I'm OK with one game like Bluefield. Everyone does that and it's good for the team to have a game like this heading into conference play. Everyone hopefully gets to play and you can work on some things in a game.

I agree. UNC Wilmington was 24-10 last year. I like that game.

  • Danny is 164-127.  This is designed to boast that record.  Strength of schedule wasn?t even an afterthought.  The UK game is nice, but I?d rather see more Duquesne-like teams and less YMCA all star teams.

His downfall has always been and will continue to be recruiting. I was reading an article today about early rankings. Most have FAU 4-9 in polls. They talked about his guard play and how much depth he had at the guard position. I just can't understand why Danny doesn't recruit more quality guards for his system. He just keeps loading up on big long kids that can't shoot the 3 or handle.

Idk about "everyone" playing a D-II team in regular season play. Some teams play cupcakes, yes, but D-II is something else.

ODU kicks off the season with DIII, Virginia Wesleyan. No mention of it being a scrimmage or exhibition, so I assume not.

App State kicks off the season with Oakland City (???) and then a mid winter game with DII Central Penn.

Texas state plays Ecclesia (DII) and Champion Christian (DII).

    JMU plays Keystone College (DIII).

About half of the Sun Belt hasn't released their out of conference schedules yet.

  • We used to play at the old WOWK building on 4h Avenue in the 1940's before the Field House was built.

80 years later and we've come to this ? A ballroom ? Something is wrong with this picture.

Siddle is doing a terrific job of restoring a once proud program.UNCW is once again gaining local support even though this local rag of a newspaper we have here often doesn't even report their scores. They will be competitive.

Most schools open up with a weak team, Appy State does play Oregon State and Auburn at home versus our one game against a P5 team. Appy's overall schedule is weak and they don't emphasize basketball like most of the SBC. ODU also plays Arkansas and Princeton which is usually a good program. JMU also plays on the road against Michigan State and Kent State.

  • Get real, bust.  Traveling to the Greenbrier is a lot easier for MANY, MANY HERD FANS than traveling to Morehead and Richmond, KY!!  Not ALL HERD FANS reside in decaying and dying Huntington, which may surprise you!!

This narrative that Huntington is decaying and dying is so much BS from you out-of-towners. We get it, you left the area and are happy to no longer live here, I am happy that you're happy.

But, Huntington has made several improvements over the last decade and has a vibrant restaurant and art scene these days that wasn't present when I was a student at Marshall. If anything Huntington is going through a period of revitalization.

What part of Huntington do you live in? lol Downtown has numerous empty buildings , homeless rehab rejects crawling the streets just to name a few things. You get away from 3rd ave from campus to the 6th street bridge or a few blocks up 4th from campus and its sad. These new flower pots on 16th street aren't revitalizing anything.

Interesting take by the above twitter account. A quick google search gave me the following information "CBB Nation. @CBBNation247. NCAA Basketball coverage with emphasis on mid-major & low-major programs." I am surprised that Voyles is listed on "Defensive POTY Watch" since he isn't on any of the all MEAC teams including the MEAC all defensive team for last year. Either this twitter account is not doing his research or the SBC is weaker in basketball then I thought.

Not to drag this out but other than downtown and Marshall, the city has become one big recovery house. The city has issues and Steve Williams has allowed this to happen. The city makes money from the recovery houses and the grants they receive. Its a big business. I wish we had Parkersburg's mayor, he is working to eliminate some of their recovery houses due to an influx of out state addicts, its created a huge homeless issue as well. They reported having homeless from 26 different states who settled in P'burg due to the free needle exchange and other free services offered. Mayor Joyce says its enabling people, not helping them. I agree 100%. Williams needs to recognize this and make changes. We have to help those who we can, but we can't save the worlds addicts in Huntington, WV. It's killing this city!

    Sorry for the rant.

  • Colonial Hall inside the resort, at more than 16,000 square feet, will serve as the playing venue at the Greenbrier Resort, marking yet another unique competition space in which Intersport has hosted basketball events. In the last year alone, Intersport has staged major basketball events on the infield at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Bayou Music Center in downtown Houston as part of college basketball?s national championship weekend and Northerly Island on Chicago?s lakefront for the 2022 UA Next Elite 24. It will be the first college basketball event hosted at The Greenbrier, which has staged the ?Battle for the Springhouse? high school tournament the last two years.

Just another account trying to get traction, like BigGameBoomer or whoever that does the football stuff, with almost no data to back anything up. Throw something together and see if it sticks.

The CBB account left off Curfman as one of the top 8 three point specialists in the SBB. That should be all you need to know about how much research this guy does.

Appy State plays Auburn in Hickory, NC, an hour away from campus as part of a tournament. If indications of the Greenbrier are correct as posters pointed out above, I'd assume this is what we are trying to turn the Greenbrier into.

Our schedule is no worse than any other SBC team at this point and probably better than most, to be fair. Had the Cayman Islands Classic not fallen apart, you'd likely be playing at least one more P5 in Ole Miss, Wake Forest, or Cincinnati.

Marshall is playing Bluefield U located in Bluefield VA... not Bluefield State (WV).  Bluefield U is an NAIA school not NCAA D2.
