  • he practices like everyone else. There is no reason to make a RS decision until at least October

How does he look in our system? Does he look like one of our better players and someone who can/will contribute?

  • Huntington area?  Meaning what?  Perhaps Ashland, Boyd County are growing.  Appears that a lot more economic activity, development going on there recently.  If that help Huntington, then great.  But surely you can't argue about everything in Cabell County is "remaining quite steady" when the population continues to stagnate, if not drop, decade after decade.  That is a FACT!!  Some prefer just to Drink the Steve Williams "Green Kool Aid", I guess, and like "Chip" in "Animal House" proclaim that "All is well"!!!

Huntington today is in a much better place than Huntington was in 2012 when I graduated college. And it's not even close.

  • this is what the setup looks like at the greenbrier ballroom

That is embarrassing. All this stuff about we won't go to akron because of no dressing rooms and Morehead and EKU because of a rinks dink 5-6k gyms, and then we schedule to play at the Greenbrier that may seat 3-4 hundred. Are we D1 or trying to become D2?

& you know how it'll be.  they'll only sell the tix to the upper echelon BG members that already go to the games at the Cam, so it won't even be about exposing the program to potential new fans.

I may be wrong, b/c I really am not in the 'know' on this event, but from the Radford site it appears that its going to be sponsored and produced by a third party and The Greenbrier will be administering the ticket sales.  I've already put my name on The Greenbrier's email list to get info when they're available.

I think Steve Williams sucks, but I do have to agree with this. I have to give the city credit in terms of tearing down dilapidated buildings. It took a few years, but it?s made a noticeable difference. Still a long ways to go, but tearing down these buildings has been huge for improving the city.

  • This roster looks sub .500. I can't believe a 75 year old man would punt away a season.

One of the benefits of a "3-year deal".  Danny's whole outlook is a casual "What me worry?" approach to Herd basketball, WIN or LOSE!!!

  • Both schools had to agree to play at the Greenbrier.  It's not like that Marshall signed to play Radford at the Cam and then did a bait and switch on them.  There must be some kind of financial benefit for both sides to agree to play at the Greenbrier.

unless Radford would only come to Cam as part of a home-&-home & dan deemed their gym not worthy of our presence?  so instead, they agree on a "neutral" game at 1 of America's finest resorts with Justice family picking up the tab?

I'm sure there is but it's still low budget. But I guess everything is about money now and screw the fans. Maybe someday Schools can play at ballrooms around the country and not even have home games. Just another reason I'm glad I gave it up. A ball room seating of 300 against Radford or at Morehead and 6000 seating.

the thing that frustrates me about the ohio & morehead thing is every year we hear moaning & groaning about how we can't find anybody to play us, HAVE to play this & that D-II school to complete a schedule, yada, yada, yada...& then the schedule comes out & D-I schools 60-90 mins from us that would be glad to play us every season for eternity won't be on it!  granted, ohio is probably on our schedule most seasons, but they certainly aren't on there every season.  & morehead is only half the time, at best, & probably not often going forward b/c dan doesn't wanna play there.  every season, we oughta have 1 of those 2 at home & the other on the road.  that'd mean every season you'd have a home game where a decent # of visiting fans would come & help boost ticket sales & every season you'd have a local road game that fans could easily travel to.

someone had mentioned it was a test to see how an MTE might make money for the Greenbrier.  i just don't see how unless the walls are mobile!  can't see where there'd be any extra TV revenue.  can't see how MU fans would be happy not being able to get a ticket at such a nice vacation venue.  simply put, what exactly are the upsides?

edit- i see now that someone mentioned a third party might be paying for this- that might clarify things but it still leaves me SMH!

Perhaps a token of gratitude to an alumnus/Governor/presumed future senator/former richest person in the state?

  • I am not a baseball fan. If Justice wants MU to play a game at The Greenbriar for him giving MU $13 million for the baseball stadium; I think it is a good deal. Heck, if this the deal, we should be finding other ways to get him to give MU money. LOL

Then play a baseball game there. This ballroom thing is laughable.

Your post makes way TOO MUCH SENSE, mhf.  Probably the main reason D'Antoni is apparently against it!!

I would much rather travel 60 miles and watch Marshall play Morehead that travel 13 miles to the cam and watch us play Bluefield or Rio Grande. Any time!!!!
