I've posted before on how the Osteopathic School at Virginia Tech has partnered with a hospital system, Carillion, and private investors to develop a Biomedical Research Center in Roanoke, VA, about 30 minutes or so away up I-81 from Blacksburg. Would love to see Huntington develop something similar, with MU's Med. School facilities, new Pharmacy facility, and the University's rather new Biomedical and Engineering complex along Third Avenue, plus the Cabell Huntington Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital complexes ALL within close proximity to each other!! The key then, to such a research complex within Huntington, of course, is to attract sufficient private capital to help finance such a project. May sound somewhat daunting, but with someone like Brad Smith at MU's helm, I wouldn't be too quick to bet against such a project, if attempted, coming to fruition!!
