Pt Pleasant is 41 miles from MU on a two land road. Charleston is 56 miles from Point Pleasant via US 35/I 64. Route 2 needs to be upgraded to 4 lanes from Huntington to PP. Hopefully the plant is not too far north of PP.
Sadly, FT2, this is another area where Huntington, Cabell County and the entire State have "missed the boat" on an idea that was presented decades ago and literally "talked to death" but never produce much, if any, concrete action and results. The Herald-Dispatch in the late 60s, or maybe the 70s, ran an extensive series of articles on upgrading Route 2, from the top of the Northern Panhandle all the way down to the Big Sandy River. I remember reading them, quite well done, lot of research and ideas were floated, in the series which ran about a week or thereabouts, IIRC.
Today, only thing that has resulted is that I believe from New Martinsville on up into the panhandle, Wheeling up to Chester, there has been some upgrading and even some 4 lane construction improvements on Route 2. Not sure if much of anything has been done from Huntington up to Parkersburg, or even to Point Pleasant. Maybe an added passing lane here or there. But basically, the road to Pt. Pleasant is the same as it was in the 1950s, nearly 75 years ago!!
