From what I am hearing Grant Wells will be the starter when Tech rolls into Huntington.

Marshall has to step up and get the home win.

Winning a conference title would be huge, but this is the most important game of the year.

Just one of those games for the health of the program that we have to win if we want to ever have an energized fan base again.

At home, VT is down bad, the Grant Wells revenge factor, and it's probably the last time a power conference team will ever play in Huntington.

I am sure the Hokie staff have done all they can to improve personnel. They are on the hot seat. Tech is a P5, will be a tough out. Jmo

VA Tech will be a tough game, they don't want to lose this game. They have fallen off the college football map and don't have the luster they once had. It would be a nice win, but beating Notre Dame is how you energize a fan base and capture the national media. Beating NCSU would be a bigger accomplishment than beating Tech.

Well, there it is.  Best vs best.  Having played in Huff's system, knowledge of our tendencies, and practiced against our defensive scheme may give Wells a slight advantage.  Hopefully, Huff and our new DC will have some new packages that Wells hasn't seen.  Player attrition will also play a factor.  Wells having spent so much practice and game time in the Joan will negate some of the home field advantage.

The HC says Well's accuracy and ability to read what the defense is doing has improved.  That will be big for his game.  No question he had the arm strength. 

Interesting the similarities between Marshall and VT on offense.  Both Marshall and VT have faced the many of the same issues on offense, struggling QB, passing efficiency, finishing drives, etc.  Also interesting that both HC say that the first and second team QB for each team will get an opportunity to play in games this season.  Drones was listed as a dual threat QB out of high school.  It seems the HCs may be taking the same approach to fixing their respective offense.

Same here.  A nice "Owen Porter shaped tattoo" across his entire body would be a nice memento for him.
