Kyle Shanahan is one of the best HCs in the NFL.
John Lynch gets high marks as a GM, despite the Trey Lance fiasco.
So they're not stupid. Laborn, in their judgement, doesn't have enough upside to occupy a valuable roster spot. Hopefully, he's got enough good tape that another team will add him to at least a practice squad spot.

Which is why I liked Ali .... proven pass catcher.  Softer hands!  And bigger!!  But I like Laborn. 
Gilmore might stick if he can handle the deep ball And Beauplan always looked like an NFL player.  He?s hanging on.

If ever Trying to get a player on/through practice squad cut now without much tape.  Not when the tape is good.  Not saying this is the case.  But coaching sense.  Shanahan has excellent sense. 
On a brighter side .... Chad Pennington style qb play tonight .... Tyson Bagent 9/10/1TD tonight/about 9 yds a completion / generated 9 points

If Laborn is getting cut now, then the SF coaching staff didn't feel that he was even close to making the team.
