Notre Dame AD Says College Football Is 'Complete Disaster' amid Conference Changes

"Everybody in the industry has to take responsibility here," Swarbrick, who is retiring in 2024, said. "I'm not excluding myself from that. I think the decision making lost its way in terms of the focus on the student-athlete and what's primarily best for them."

He also explained he wants to find a home for Stanford and Cal and that Notre Dame is lobbying for them to be included in the ACC. While the Fighting Irish are independent in football, they are in the ACC for most other sports and play men's hockey in the Big Ten.

This has become so stupid. You have west coast teams going to the east coast and east coast teams going west. As they say "money is the root of all evil" and it's destroying all sports. Regions and rivalries mean nothing now. Loyalty and honor mean nothing now.

Even if the ACC took Cal and Stanford for football only membership, that would mean four games on the east coast for them since they play an eight game conference schedule. It doesn't make sense.

I've said from the beginning when the conference shuffling started happening that there should be football and maybe men's basketball only conferences and the non-revenue Olympic sports should stay in their traditional homes.
