  • And 8 the game before?  Per his X / Twitter account he sure seems interested in MU's offer.  Says he will be at the game tonight.  Anyone have any down low?

I'm not impressed that he threw 11 TD's in an 84-6 game against a team that would be among the worst in WV small schools. They haven't played a team with a pulse yet.

I am very impressed with his ability, though. Ability>stats. His numbers just don't mean anything to me.

  • Any coach who has his starters in throwing touchdowns when up by a margin like that gets zero respect from an old guy like me. I coached wrestling for 30 years and have seen many mismatches and dealt with many coaches but this is about the worst. Oh, by the way, they are under penalties from the WVSSAC for blatant recruiting violations, so there?s that to consider as well. I have no ties to either team and do not blame the kid for playing hard.

  • According to the recruiting sites, he has no offers but he is in the class of 2025. Check out the Hudl site and he seems to be a wvu fan. His profile picture has him wearing a wvu uniform holding a wvu flag.

Agree 100 percent? from what I hear a large percentage of his starters are transferring from the schools that are getting destroyed.

  • Actually it doesn't bother me at all. If the state capitol Charleston doesn't have a better football team than they do, it's their own fault. My goodness, how did Capitol high school get so bad? And same for South Charleston. If you are down 86-0 at halftime, maybe you should just drop football. What is embarrassing is not the teams that beat them Thad bad but a school the size of those 2 allowing their programs to get this bad.

Because now you can recruit off of other teams and this state doesn't produce enough players for that to be sustainable around the state.  That's why there were so many insane scores.

Well if college is going to allow the insanity then why not high school? Still why does Capitol and South Charleston have a disadvantage? Just sounds to me like Huntington and Hurricane are just doing a much better job.

Hurricane presently starts exactly 0 kids from Hurricane.

    Zero. None. Not one.

This is high school sports. Great coaches work with what they have. Coaches with egos poach kids for their own self glorification.

Hurricane should drop out of the SSAC and go play IMG Academy and those types of schools since they're trying to act like those schools.

Is it illegal? If not then what is the problem. Sounds like a huge school like Capitol and S Charleston should just drop football to keep from getting embarrassed. Welcome to todays athletics at all levels. Don't whine about it but just keep up!!!

  • Ironton has been playing the recruiting game for years. And the present coach Pendleton has taken it to another level.

Eventually the people of Hurricane will get fed up with their kids not playing anymore. This won't last long.

And you would think the parents at Capitol and S Charleston would get fed up with getting totally embarrassed. I'll tell you what is embarrassing, is being down 86-0 at halftime and play 2 six minute running clock quarters in the second half and your opponent trying NOT to score. Maybe they should voluntarily move down to single A where they can compete? Remember P South put 83 on Capitol the week before. And Morgantown beat S Charleston 65-0 week before. So S Charleston has been out scored 151-0 in two games. And Capitol out scores 176-25 in two games. Seems to me like the problems lay more at their feet than the opponents.

  • Worst part of the Hurricane/Capital game is that the Hurricane coach refuse to have a running clock or play fewer minutes in the 2nd half.    Then the Hurricane players kept interfering with capital while they were praying at the end of the game.   Got so bad the police/parents/coaches had to escort the hurricane players to the locker rooms.

Well, they are their former teammates, maybe that?s why they are picking on them.

High schools should play with the kids in their district IMO.  When you build a few super teams how do kids get better?  They are either playing vastly inferior opponents each week or riding the bench and not getting game reps.
