We've been so busy wondering if the transfer portal was going to help us catch the P5 that we didn't think about whether it was going to help FCS catch us.  So many times during the the game on big plays by Albany, they mentioned where the playmaker transferred in from and it was always some P5 or G5 school.  And I think half of ODU's team plays for Albany.  The better half I'm guessing.

G5 coaches aren't the only ones building bionic teams from the portal.  I was pretty impressed with them even though it's apparently cooler just to tow the line and say that we suck.  Their running back was huge.  Legs like treetrunks.

Players always had the ability to transfer down to FCS and play immediately. If anything the transfer portal hurts FCS as players can transfer to another FBS team and play immediately, whereas before, they HAD to transfer down to FCS unless they wanted to sit out a year.

Great point muther! Secondary big and all over the field, offensive line looked fit, qb real active, receivers were big. Told someone beside me they looked like what we used to. Right or wrong that's what it seemed to.  Coaching ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ boys that team did great!

Before you didn't have a surplus of players stuck in a portal with no home that had to settle on FCS or miss playing.  FCS teams weren't getting P5 players who wouldn't otherwise have transferred at all knowing they had no choice but to drop down.  Now people join to see what's out there and many don't find homes and the FCS coaches are scooping them up. Plus, their QB, once on their team, recruited a bunch of other players to join him on their team.  They built it from the ground up.

Albanys play by play guy from NY said on ESPN radio that this years team looks as good or better than their FCS playoff team from a couple years ago.  He was very high on their QB.

Well, if pre-season prediction is accurate in picking Albany to end up as #11 in the CAA, HERD and its fans had better be damn glad that we're only playing only ONE team from the Colonial this season!

You sound like you did last year after Bowling Green.  Season turned out pretty well, considering back up QB.  I hope you are just melting down like last year and wrong again.  If you right, long season and we can just move on to soccer.

I've officially heard it all. Some in this fanbase are beyond pathetic. Land of 1000 excuses.

We shouldn't have to worry about the FCS "catching us" if we have people with half a brain running the program who are also using the portal to better our team. Good grief!

The G5 is competing with the P5 using their players and winning some of those games.  No reason to think that doesn't occur between FCS and G5 teams.  But I don't expect you to understand logic.  No one's saying they were a powerhouse.  But I am clearly saying that if you overlook these teams or play bad football they will bite you in the ass.  The talent difference is not what it was in the big picture.

Again you're full of it. You listed one thing I speculated about and one thing I never said. Now what else is on that big list that "goes on and on"? Nothing because I've been right about everything I've evaluated (I'm even shocked by it honestly). Snyder, Doc, Hamrick, last few years with soccer, Columbi, Fancher, Iran Bennett, the fanbase's exodus...and then THAT is a list that goes on and on...calling stuff months and years ahead of time and am many times the first to point something out (that you always like to jump on and explain away and later be wrong about - ha!). 

Tell me captain butt hurt...what else is on your list that I've been wrong about? Go ahead. MUther is the perfect name because there is no one that acts more like a woman than you on this board. You may be one I really don't know. Clever name if so (and I mean that as a complement).

You really had to dig deep there (in the bag of lame excuses) to tell us why FCS games are going to be more challenging now. No other respectable FBS fanbase/program is going there because...as I said..."G5's" are or should be using the portal as well to KEEP that talent gap wide. If everyone has the ability to get better through the portal (even all the way down to FCS as you mentioned) then your point is a moot one. You said yourself G5's are building "bionic teams". Well then we should be building one and beat FCS schools like we always have and should.

A win is a win!  No one will remember this game if we beat ECU, & VT.  I think we had 35 yrds of penalties in the first 4 minutes of the game and one brought a huge TD run back.  Their QB avoided a lot of tackles in the backfield and then proceeded to make plays down field.  That was a pretty good football team.  If DD was coaching this football team we wouldn't have had as much penalties!!!  Let's go Herd....
