1. We are good enough and coached to the level that we can maybe compete with middle to lower third of any FCS conference.
2. Fancher still wouldn't be good enough to be our QB at that level and win a title.
3. Coaches mean a lot at this level. You need a good coach or you're not going to be very successful. Our defense has shown this tonight. Huge step back from last year. This is very bad news as our offense is just as bad.
4. Crowd was good. Solid crowd. Team and gameplay took the crowd out though. Quietest I've seen the joan in a game in the first half maybe ever with that large of a crowd. Got into it in second half.
5. Fan experience - fireworks, good addition. Like it. We are marshall chants are a disaster. The guy on the mic needs to say this side - we are.... Point to the east and say marshall, then point back and let the crowd take over. When just the mic guy says we are and we say Marshall it's terrible. The one we got going in 2nd half was awesome.
The video board is nice, but not as impressive as i originally was thinking it would be. Intro video wasn't very good. Hasn't really been any good since the 2010 season I think it was, with the speech from the movie integrated.
6. Huff - most disappointing thing to me was his post game when he wasn't even upset or disappointed. He tried to act like albany was a team that is good enough to compete for a sunbelt title lol. And talked about how they had played a game and we hadn't, etc. Not a single word about how we didn't perform as we should have. He did say lucky it happened this week which is true. Those silly LOS passes aren't going to work againat ECU or any other team on our schedule. Always said I'd trade the talker for the walker, to lead any position. I still believe huff is just a talker. If he leaves here ever winning a title, I'll be shocked.
7. Ali - looked good. Bright spot on an otherwise, awful night. But this kid can't do it alone.
8. Our punter has a hell of a leg, and our field goal kicker well, we don't know because we let them block it.
9. Oline - rough. If you can't move a lower division team and get 1 or 2 yards when you need it with 22 running the ball, you got issues.
10. Receivers - didn't see much separation vs their dbs. Granted, they didn't run but 2 downfield routes, 1 was incomplete and 1 INT. Our game plan is very much built around Fancher throwing screwns and 5 yard routes, so hard to know what we have.
11. Dline - pretty good overall. Sacked him 7 or 8 times and %^&* them down on the ground for the most part. Our weakness appeared to be at LB and DB.
Overall, I see a 6-7 win season, coming. Our defense is not anywhere near last years, and our offense with Fancher and trickett is absolutely horrid. We aren't going to be able to score and we aren't going to stop others or hold them to 16ppg this season. This is a 27-28ppg allowed defense, with a 14 ppg offense. Unless Fancher gets benched and we can throw it beyond 5 yards, we are in for a very long, unsuccessful season. We were lucky to win vs Albany tonight. Have to let that sink in.
I am praying for a different team next week at ECU. But i am fully prepared for a 35-3 type of shellacking.
