It is true what Huff says, if this Team really has talent this was a great wake up call.  I just worry about Fancher.

I think we have a good roster, top to bottom, but I also worry about Fancher and this offensive system. Definitely think we need to go uptempo more often.

I know the defense has taken a lot of heat from last night but I don't really understand why. They weren't perfect but there are a lot of new faces playing for a new DC. Remember in 2021, the defense was Swiss Cheese to begin the year. Around the start of conference play they gelled and were a respectable unit. I think the D will be fine.

Coach Huff is one of those guys that makes you want to run through a wall for him.  Unfortunately, some parts of the program are building those walls out of reinforced concrete instead of drywall.   He needs to do what he said day one and get everyone pulling the rope in the same direction.  That starts with a few offense ultimatums.  Develop a plan/set of plays and stick with what is working till it doesn't.   And keep trying different things until you find it.  If they cant find anything that works, it's time to make changes.  Whether that turns out to be the OC, the QB, or whatever.  I think the defense will be cleaned up with some emotional control and discipline, as Huff mentioned.   I mean they held a 3000 yard passer to 17 points.  Objectively. that ain't bad.

I don't really buy this. FCS teams have been beating FBS teams forever. And there were no FCS over FBS wins this year in Week 1 which is actually unusual.

Top tier fcs programs are just as good as average fbs programs.  So it definitely does happen.  But the whole G5/P5 thing is just made up term ESPN used and it stuck.  We are all in FBS and play in the same division of cfb. Those 2  terms are not generally defined by the NCAA.  So imo an fcs win over a fbs is a bigger upset.

Huff said 2 years ago, there were 3-4 articles about Huff being a candidate for Virginia tech and Huff said absolutely no one called him or his agent about the job, despite it being in national print.

There was both Virginia Tech prior to Brent Pry and Duke.  I was talking about Virginia Tech.  Huff says before he speaks to anyone about a job he has to notify Spears and Brad Smith beforehand.

So Albany had players that weren't good enough to play at ODU.  ODU isn't very good so I wouldn't use ODU wash outs as justification for Saturday.

They weren't there because they were washouts at ODU.  They QB left ODU and then recruited some of their better players to come play with him at UA.  And not every transfer was from ODU. They have a lot of P5 transfers as well.  It's not a justification.  It's just saying that if you overlook these teams or don't play sound football (turnovers, penalties, and mistakes) you're gonna have a fight on your hands the same as any FBS opponent.

And people forget when we were 1AA.

Great point! Remember the famous game that NCSU beat us 15-14 with 24 seconds left with a TD pass on 10/19/1991? NCSU was ranked at number 10 in the poll at the time of that game. MU was a 1-AA team at the time of that game.

I wonder if the NCSU fans wanted their coach fired after winning that close game? Some of the older fans apparently have a short memory.
