i doubt that Marshall I-AA team (vs NC St) only had 6 wins the previous 3 years (Albany)

people can make all the excuses they want to for our pathetic performance, but perception is reality...dern-near losing/barely beating an absolute no-name FCS opponent at home is a joke to everyone that's not a Marshall homer

this is another example of why we're not taken seriously when all these pre-season rankings & predictions are made & everyone gets fired up b/c we're picked 4th in our division or nobody picks us to win our conference

Marshall come into the game at NCSU at 4-1. MU lost to Appy 9-3 on the road for the first game. Marshall beat UNH on a last second field game to win the game 24-23 to open the new stadium. Marshall beat Furman on the road 38-35. MU could have been 2-3 going into the NCSU game. MU blew out two horrible Morehead and Brown teams. Competing against a top 10 in the county until the final seconds is just a little different than competing with a G5 team for a lower division team like Albany. JMO.

i didn't say anything about giving up on the season.  i said our performance last Sat was unacceptable & that there's no excuses for barely beating Albany.  i'm not AS hopeful for a special season as i was last Friday before the game, i'll admit that, but i'm not giving up on the season.  but if 21-17 over Albany is legit who we are b/c Albany is THAT close to our level (as it seems some have contended in this thread, with their ODU transfers, etc.), then it might be a long season.  but i'm going with 'certainly we're better than that!'
