  • I think it would settle him down and also make ECU have to defend him coming out of the backfield.
    Thoughts?

  • Depends on how well we move the ball.  If we are able to move the ball, keep him protected in the pocket and stay with what works.  If we can't pass the ball then run him.  He has to be able to do more than just hand the ball off.  I think the ECU defensive game play is going to be stop the run and make us beat them through the air.  That's going to be every teams plan until we prove we can beat teams passing the ball.

Bigger question is if we can't pass and the offense is stalling does Huff give TJ a meaningful opportunity to see what he can do?  More than just a few plays or a series.

  • I hate to be too pessimistic but I'm wondering that too about McMahon. How bad would things have to get before he gets playtime?

Huff says Fancher is the guy from now on but then he also says all the time his coaching philosophy is simple: WIN

I think if Fancher gets in a jam moving the ball, he'll let him try to work his way out of it.

Huff also said on more than one occasion during the off season that both QBs would get playing time.

  • I'd also like to see Fancher actually ball fake on handoffs.  When he hands-off actually pretend he still has the ball and sprint out a few yards.

Last week he'd hand off and half as$ ball fake for one step then turn and watch the play.  That's something he can improve on that would help him on play action passing and QB keepers.

Carrying out fakes is important.  Fancher needs to play under center.  His release and short ball is quick  enough.

  • I?d like to see another quick slicing style rb get going.  I?m sure Turner & Smoke can supply a pump to the ground game.

Yeah, I was just talking about Huff, for being such a great recruiter.  We are still using Doc's recruits at at QB1, RB1, RB2 3 years into his era.  I have heard smoke is a beast though.

  • We need a 1-2 rb punch.  Ali can play all 3 downs.  Smoke or Turner.  Whoever hits the hole faster.
