He was a 4-star out of high school who initially went to Alabama. He's a legit athlete. Whatever led to him going the JUCO route and on to ODU had nothing to do with his top-end speed.
NIL, its an easy answer these days.
They were spreading us out and running up the middle on a defense that had no linebacker or safety in the second level in the middle of the field.
Not exactly. He enrolled at Alabama in Spring of 2021 but left before spring ball and went to a JUCO in Mississippi. I think it was because he changed his mind about his position. He was recruited as a safety at Alabama. His JUCO coach said the reason he left Tuscaloosa so quickly was that he just wanted to be on the field. My theory is he wanted to be a running back. His initial goal had been to go back to Alabama when he was ready to step in and play but that obviously didn't happen. He was a top 100 player nationally out of Philadelphia, Mississippi. Long story short, as has been mentioned above... he is clearly an SEC caliber athlete. So while it was frustrating that we couldn't catch him, it's also true that he's not a typical SBC athlete at running back.
It will interesting to see what he does in the next game, because he hardly did anything up to our game.
