  • At the first stat check in the game, Herd with 88% of the possession in this game.

More lineup tweaking tonight as Rai Pinto and Aymane Sordo get the start.

  • 1-0 at the half. Complete domination on possession although both teams have 2 shots on goal. I like the tweaks to the lineup. I expect to see some halftime adjustments.

  • For those wondering about yellow card management... was Aoumaich's delay of game yellow card an intentional one?  It's his 5th, meaning he'll miss Coastal Carolina, but will be likely not be in danger for WVU, ODU, UK, South Carolina... but he looked like he had no intention of putting the ball in play, and he was removed from the game as soon as he got the yellow.

  • That is what I thought he was doing. He was taken out shortly after and was congratulated by the coaches.

  • So, He got the yellow on purpose and now his accumulated five yellow cards will start over after the Coastal game?

His next suspension would be at 8 total, so he would go into the final 4 games of the conference schedule (vs WVU, ODU Kentucky, South Carolina) where 3 cards would be his next suspension rather than the next card.

  • HUGE RESULT -

South Carolina finds a goal with 5 seconds left to take a 1-0 victory over current 2nd place ODU in SBC standings.

This means Marshall goes to sleep tonight with a 5 point lead in the conference table (though with a WVU win tomorrow vs JMU, they could leapfrog ODU and close to within 4).  Either way, Marshall will have more than a full game lead as we reach the halfway point of the conference season.

  • I was at the game last night and none of us could figure out why the goal by Pablo Simon was disallowed.

So, watching the ESPN+ replay, apparently it was an offsides call...even the two announcers were a little unsure about that.
After looking at the situation 3 or 4 times, I cannot figure why it was an offside play.

Stripe', or one of you other refs, could you please expalin?

It was called a foul by Fujita for interfering with the goalkeeper.  Fujita Makes contact with their GK and impedes him.  The assistant wasn't signaling for offsides, he was signaling for a foul to be called.

  • amazing and congrats-  big-time program climb in recent years.  some more difficult than others, but very difficult to do in any sport.

myself and many others have said this many times before- i can't wait for the next time Herd is tops in multiple sports in the same year.

  • Ga State had a couple of really good opportunities. Our depth showed and played well. If we had Pasqual, this team would be scary good. They are good and can be better. Awesome to watch!!

  • Sometimes I felt like I was watching a chess match last night -- I'm not sure I've ever seen the Herd be so ultra-deliberate with the ball along the back line.  At least there weren't any terrible giveaways during this game.

I had to wonder how that GSU team put up three goals against WVU -- they just didn't seem to have the firepower against us.

Can't wait to go up to Morgantown to see our game.  Does anyone know if the fan bus was a go?  I know it's a sellout, so the atmosphere should be pretty wild.  Hope no couches get burnt after the game!

It's really boring to watch but can't argue with the results

  • GSU's style of play is to play compactly and then aggressively counter attack whenever the opportunity arrises.

JMU just scored on the q'eers because the q'eers were sloppy on transition D.

The sick part is if there was money to be made in college soccer the big programs would have found a way to freeze us out of all this.  We're benefiting from soccer because soccer isn't as popular in the US as it is in other countries.  Weird irony.

Pretty sure soccer is now a revenue sport at Marshall.

I know it?s nothing compared to college football but I think college soccer will continue to grow in popularity.

Yeah, not talking revenue sport.  I'm talking money that causes groups of teams to create monopolies and to create rules and committees that deny access to teams outside their cartels.  If college soccer had that, like football and basketball, it would have been/would be much harder to get to where we have gotten.  We wouldn't even be able to get games with half these teams we play regularly now.  They would freeze us out.  If it had US popularity and marketability like it does worldwide, that's exactly what would be going on
