  • We played hard yesterday, and saw glaring issues in OL, QB accuracy both under duress and not, and solid blocks on DL getting big plays, and secondary miscues.

That said there were a hell of a lot of positives.
We played a team that had a great defense. And we went toe to toe.

But, everything is still in front of us including the SBC championship, and the NY6 is still there as well.

We've had one 48-41 loss to an ACC team.
    We've beaten another ACC team.
We have a hell of a conference slate coming up.
We have at minimum 2 more National TV telecast coming up.

If we win the league even with one conference loss, we are still in the NY6 running.
It will come down to who wins the other leagues.
And our conference SOS is higher than all the other leagues.

Fresno St. losing the other night helps us.
If Wyoming wins out they've got a great shot at it.
I don't believe Liberty would get it less the MWC, SBC, and AAC champ all had 3 losses.

Let's focus on what we can control and go win the SBC. We do that and we are in the convo still for the Peach or Fiesta. I think the Cotton can take us, but since they just took Tulane last year I imagine it will be one of the other 2.

This is the year to nab the game, as it gets exponentially harder next year having to get in the playoff and win on the road to get to that game.

  • I agree, but everything will be out of our reach if the defense keeps surrendering long runs up the middle.

  • One thing I like about the team is they play hard.  There's no infighting or giving up.  They haven't quit on the coaches and they're digging deep every play.  We definitely need to fix some schemes and shore up the coaches end of the deal.  But we've got good kids out there.

    Very well said.
Let's support them and like I said, we have a very high chance at the NY6 at 11-1 with this weekends loss.
And we honestly have a decent shot at it at 10-2 and SBC Champs, with a conference loss, because our conference strength is so high.

  • Let's not say that NOT being in the NY6 means a failure.  There are 61 teams in the run for that, certainly not all realistically, but if we don't get there it doesn't mean we suck.

Yep. It's a little delusional to think if we don't get in the NY6 that our season is a failure. I chuckle at that thought.
People need to get a grip on reality.

  • Not thinking we really good enough for that anyway.  But we are good enough to compete for conference title so let's do that and see where it goes.

Not bad considering after the home opener one of the resident experts here said we were good enough to compete with lower or middle of FCS and our QB not good enough to win title at that level.  We are 4-1 with wins over ecu and VT and a one TD loss to NC State on road.

  • I think we are probably destined for 2nd place in the East, maybe 3rd place in the Sunbelt.

Well if it's 2nd to jmu then it's really first.  No one in the east is particularly scary, JMU certainly looks strong.  All others good and capable of beating us as we are them.

  • Glad we have done reasonably well on the road.  APP and GSU on the road are gonna be tough, maybe Coastal, too. See how they do tomorrow vs App.  You know McCall wishes he'd gone to Liberty at this point.

  • This talk is very premature. We might want to beat at least 1 team with a winning record first.

you keep saying that when we discuss Fancher's record as a starting QB.  JMU last year.  at least get part of it right.

I figured.  You really have to go look at the facts when 24 gets to rambling.  Alot of BS and opinions mixed in and presented as fact.
