Is there any semblance of media coverage of Marshall sports other than an occasional puff piece?

If you search YouTube you can find pre-game press conferences, podcasts for us and sometimes our opponents have podcasts and gambling predictions on the game.  I will say Luke Creasy is always present and asked great questions, imo.

You can tell we are a larger fanbase than some of our Sun Belt Colleagues, but our ACC opponents had multiple Podcasts and discussion forums.

That's the only way I get my Herd fix anyway.

Average sports fan isn't going to "search" anything very much, if at all, for sports news.

Outside of the Huntington area, and to a lesser extent, greater Charleston, Kanawha Valley area, everyday coverage of MU Sports is hit or miss, often "missing" and non-existent, in terms of TV coverage, newspaper coverage (not sure if we even have what traditionally used to be a Sports Information Director, to put out HERD sports info, etc., that could be picked by AP sports writer(s), etc., in the State).  And can't be sure, but it doesn't appear that MU's radio "network" with game coverage is all that "great".  Has disappeared in some Southern WV areas lately, like Bluefield-Princeton, etc.

Not exactly the kind of conditions that would grow a fan base, increase crowds at athletic events, etc., etc.

I dont think that's correct.  People search for their interests sports or otherwise all the time.  Now I will agree that the older generation that aren't computer savvy or genuinely don't care, won't search. 

Once you search for something, often times you can "follow" the subject or source.  Then most times the subject you searched for will start appearing in your feed in various apps from algorithms.

In my opinion local newspapers and AP print articles are probably the least effective place to reach a 15
to 30 year old new fan.

Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Online communities and Facebook are a 10 times more likely to reach and endear fans.  Marshall does a good job of creating content and staying relative with their followers.

Brad Smith is very active and skilled at selling Marshall on social media, which is awesome.

I wish the HD would do a few short profiles every week of some of the mens soccer players - where they're from, background, what do they like to do outside of soccer, how did they get here/ learn about Marshall, etc.

True, but they don't seem to have a problem doing stories on every team or kid from Midland, Huntington, Hurricane, Fairland and Ironton. It's to the point I am ready to cancel.
