I remember hearing stories back in the day when we were both in the SC. I didn't attend the game but friends who did attend said it was the worst experience at an away game they ever had to this day.

One of my best memories as a Marshall fan / student / alumni was in 1987 when we beat them in the I-AA semi-round of the playoffs. Great feeling for the school, program and city. It was great seeing the players put George Chaump up on their shoulders at the end of the game.

Let?s not pretend thousands of people were throwing trash. It seems that was the student section as coastal players were taunting them.

This is college football and I?m so happy to be in the SBC.

I've been there a couple of times long ago, including the '87 playoffs, and never had an issue.

McCall was one of the last getting off the field.  He'd already seen full cans of beer thrown at other teammates.  This why he taunted them and put his helmet on.  Other staff members were not wearing pads and helmets and could have been seriously injured.  He was drawing fire.  This is not nothing and at the very least security should move fan away from the visiting tunnels after the game.

Yep. Students spitting and pouring drinks on players as they went to the locker room. I recall a few social media videos caught all the action. Boone is a nice area but outside of town, it's deliverance territory.

And we have never had an issue with these things happening in Huntington, correct?

Some of my favorite times were tailgating at Prindle Field and then standing by the fence giving the opposing teams all they could handle and sometimes they couldn't handle as they got off their bus pre game.

The student section in the 80s at Fairfield and the Cam was basically Animal House. Other teams threw stuff at us and even tried to climb the wall a few times at Fairfield to get to us. At the Cam if you weren't there an hour before the game you weren't getting a lower level student seat. In both places the student section was right behind the visitors bench.

I was a student at Marshall when the Cam opened. It was more like 90 minutes before the tip if you wanted a lower level seat. Students were rowdy during those days.
