  • Remember when we used to get better recruits than this regularly? Now some acts like we hit some jackpot on a decent player. Taft, skip, Laverne, Andy Paul, Corny, Tink Brown, Hightower, Kane, Pitts, coleman, whiteside just to name a few.

  • True, but he also has video of him going 2-7 from three point land, but who wants to see that lol.

Think Moore fits the mold of a Dan player (tall, lean, long, coordinated, and likes to score) and should do well in this green light offense.

We just need to get players that can win a conference tournament game for a change. Hopefully he is the guy.

I am retired and play basketball in a senior league down in here in Florida. I think my team could hold there own with these kids. They don't play defense and they seem to be slow like my senior citizens team after the 3rd quarter.

  • When the lights come on in live game we will know the truth.  I hope he?s great.  Rest should be transfers who come & cant transfer anywhere else.

  • It's why Dannys recruiting is all wrong for todays game. Transfers is the way to build and lock in. Just stubborn and stuck in a time warp.

Danny brought in three transfers this off-season. Is your ideal program to have 5/6 transfers every season and never offer a HS player again?

Yes it is in todays world. You beat the bushes for sophomores and junior transfers. Then they are locked in to you unless they want to sit. Midmajors will never keep a player if he develops. Money talks and they will be gone. It's commonsense for anyone with half a brain. In todays college basketball recruiting is more important than anytime ever. Every year you have to beat the bushes for transfers with 2-3 years left. If you can get a really good one with one year then that is fine also. But it's dumb to try and build a program out of freshman at a midmajor if you don't have a lot of money to keep them.

    Voyles should have two years.

Martin has two but I think Voyles just has one. That is how it's listed on herdzone.

Interesting. I was going off the notion that 2019-20 was a free year for everyone. Maybe since their season technically completed before the COVID shutdown, he is "charged" for that year. Maryland Eastern-Shore did not participate in the 2020-2021 season.

I suspect that you might be correct.
However, it's still to early to tell about the 'never keep a player' deal will be the case.

  • The negativity in this thread is astounding. Looks like a great recruit. Glad these players aren?t stupid enough to read this board.

So 4 scholarships available after this season? Voyles, Marko, Goran and Curfman would be out of eligibility?  I am glad OAK has an extra year.

  • Appears to be like many/several of DD's recruits at his position:  either his school never had a weight room or he couldn't find it!!

Now that?s funny and 100 percent correct. Make sure he stays inside when it?s windy.

  • I am tired of the negativity.  When DD does recruit someone it is so negative that it is sickening.  I frankly am tired of this.  I hope the young man has a great career at Marshall.
I have enjoyed watching DD teams and the games are exciting.  Have I been disappointed in some of the games but highly entertained.  I do not enjoy mediocrity but also do not enjoy constant whining either.  We need cheese and crackers to go with the whine.

  • Three star. #4 SG in Georgia. Multiple offers from multiple conferences. 6-7. 42-inch vertical. Shooter. Sounds like a fine player to me. Welcome to the Herd, Will Moore. And congrats to Coach Williams, as it is apparent from the young man?s comments to Phenom Hoops that Adam was instrumental in achieving this signing.

I agree. I can be a critic, but this kid looks like he has some promising tools. I am glad we have a kid that was impressed enough with our program that he wants to play for the green & white.

Adam Williams is a good assistant coach who has always had a good eye for talent on all of his coaching stops. I am so glad he is on our staff.

  • what exactly is Moore's weight and height at this moment?  its seems to range all over the place!

except for individual characteristics, similar level of skill/shooting/athleticism as Conner's HS film.  really hoping to see Conner break out this or next year.  it's good to hear Obinna might be a more rounded player.  i also hope we really are a quick, fast, ball handling team.  but can we shoot to cap it off?

yes, i think we have 4 scholarships to give in 2024 and more if any other players leave.  plenty of room for a balance of HS and portal players.  i'm guessing/of the opinion it's because you want balanced 'classes' for as much stability as possible in this day and age- no guarantees though, with the potentially disruptive portal

  • This is one of the few threads on this forum where almost everyone has valid points.

    1. Moore looks to have some good skills. I'm happy he choose to come to Marshall.
    2. He is really thin.
    3. The transfer portal does make it risky to sign a bunch of HS recruits because if they develop quickly like Hand-lotion did, then they might transfer after one season.  Then you could have a revolving door of recruits.  If they don't transfer out, then you either got lucky and the kid is loyal and decides to stick around (Kinsey), or the kid doesn't develop and nobody wants him.
    4. Roster management has changed with the portal.  I do believe that there needs to be a balance.  I would not want a coach like Tom Herrion, if he were still the head coach here, where he would probably be running kids off left and right and there would be constant roster upheaval.  But DD is the polar opposite and he keeps kids around who obviously have no business on a D1 roster.  There is nothing wrong with keeping a kid around who is working hard and is improving, but when it is clear that the kid can't play at this level, then you need to move on from him.
