what would we gain by playing TJ?  best-case scenario we could possibly dream of is for TJ to come in & be SR version of chad pennington for the next 4 games, win-out rest of way . . . & go to a crappy bowl.  why sacrifice experience that'll actually be on the roster next season just to play a G5 also-ran in a mid-week mid-afternoon gas station bowl somewhere?

Season's basically over. Nothing to gain by playing a 5th year over a freshman who needs experience.

Try to win the game?  Cole can compete for the starting job next year.  If Huff wanted to win this year and move on, he should have played the senior that's passed for 3000+ yards. 

He wanted to throw Cole in there as a middle finger to his critics,  it didn't help anything.  It certainly wasn't in Huff's best interest to play a green freshman over an experienced senior.

He looked fine, when Cam's helmet came off at ECU.  He came in took the snap, threw a 7 yard dart and got pulled.

There are still games on the schedule. The point is to win the games regardless of your record. The season is not done so long as their are games left to play. if we eek out two more wins, we'll go to some bowl, so you play the player most likely to help you win two more games. It won't be a great bowl, but I'll watch it and enjoy it.

Absolutely, you can win and train new players in limited circumstances.

I think Pennington should play the rest of the season.  He can score as many td's as CF can per game and I think at his point it's probably around .875/gm.

It had occurred to me it may have been a tantrum substitution....sort of an FU, that's what you want, you got it. I would hope not. I hve no doubt Huff is both trying hard and extremely frustrated.

And I get why he is frustrated.  At the end of the day you can call the best plays in the world, but if your Wr's can't catch a cold it won't matter.  If your lbers bite on every rpo it won't matter.


BUT, he recruited these guys, the best players are not his.  So at the end of the day he skimped on the offensive side of the ball and the D side with depth and it is now blown up in his face and ours.

I think game 8 is different than game 3 or 4. IF we make QB change early in the year I'd say it would have been McMahon, but being this deep in the year playing  younger guy makes sense as far as the future but this team can still make a bowl game.

Could also be to save McMahon's redshirt at this point and let him play the last 4 games and then start next year.

If Huff has no intention to play TJ then we wasted a scholarship on him just so Huff could tell fans he brought in a tportal QB and Fancher is better. 

Fancher is a bust.  Huff's offense is a bust.  Time to kick both to the curb.

We need 2 wins to go bowling.  The extra practice time and being able to tell recruits you have a winning record and are going to a bowl has value.

If you recall a few years ago, Thompson came in for a game, threw a few great passes on a series and never played again. Shoulder just wasn't strong enough.

TJ McMahon tucked tail and ran from a busted up JT Daniels.  He also has an injured shoulder that the staff didn't know about because they took him sight unseen.

He was good. I watched him myself, much better than anything we've seen from a QB at Marshall in a while.

He threw 14 picks in 10 games last year.  He's just another guy who can't play in a QB room full of guys who can't play.

Hard to tell.  I know when we went for it on 4th down and they rolled Cole to his left, I about came unglued!!  Can't imagine what his Dad was thinking.  Wasn't the best play call for a kid getting his first real game action.  Huff can say he didn't execute.  I'll say they didn't put him in the best situations either.  (that play and also, the fumble on the 1, we were in a 5 wide set.  WHY?!?  Give the kid some protection!!)
