  • Only 2 offensive TDs in the last 3 games.  And 1 of them (3rd quarter TD against Ga St) was a lucky TD by Ali.     Who would?ve thought that would happen here?

  • In an effort to not be overly critical and practice some maturity and patience I have refrained from
posting anything about football all year until now....But that time is past.  Herd football has become unwatchable especially on offense.  From the glacial pace of play to the absurd amount of substitutions to the dropped passes to the pitiful throws that miss wide open receivers to the poor blocking to the predictable play calling to the early sliding and ducking out of bounds (If I missed anything someone please correct me) it's just flat out awful to watch. To me it's not much fun tuning in anymore.  I hope I am overreacting but my gut tells me the season is seriously over. We will finish 4-8. Something has changed and it's not just a couple of injuries with Ali and Fancher.

Me in 2001 NEVER. Me in July/August of this year...absolutely.

  • We are looking at 9....yes 9!  Quarters without an offensive TD.   If something drastic doesn't take place this week then this coaching staff has no clue.  Open up the depth chart competition, throw out the playbooks and start over kind of drastic.  After 9 quarters of no production no one's job is safe.

It can't get any worse.  Obviously we can't run the offense we have installed. So trash it.  Go under center and play to our what is maybe our only strength, running the ball with Ali and Payne.  Install the pro set, under center and run and use play action.  This crap of handing the ball off to a RB who has yet to move is awful.  Let them get a head of steam before handing them the ball and maybe we'll have some hope of getting 2-3 yards with our awful O-line.   Better than the negative or no gain plays we currently run.

  • I forget the exact year, may have been 2003, but Pruett got pissed at the execution in the passing game and we went to UCF and essentially ran the ball almost every play and then did it again at Ohio.  We won both games pretty easy. I think his point was to the OL, if you aren?t going to pass block then you better block your butt off every down in the run game.

Good coaching. Make a point. Piss people off and make them step up.

Whether or not the offense fits the personnel is a legit argument.
However, it's unrealistic to install a new offense in a week of practice.

Is it??  I'm suggesting a basic offense.   We can't run what we have now. What is there to lose?

    Yes...
Even taking snaps under center properly, the footwork for dropping back for passes or play action, putting the ball into the pocket of a RB running downhill or a zone blocked stretch play, ball handing so that the dummy handoffs look the same as handoffs, the choreography required to hand the ball off into the various gaps, potentially having to learn some new terminology all require rehearsal.

Most QBs coming out of HS that make it into college ball take very few, if any snaps under center.

  • We've had trouble handing the ball off this year.  The ball has hit the turf on several occasions.  We've also had instances of the QB turning in one direction to hand the ball off and the RB running in the other direction.  The OL can't run block any better than it can pass block.  We aren't good at anything on offense.  We may have to start running out of the I formation using one of our 9 TEs as a fullback.

  • If Huff stays, the entire offensive staff needs let go.  We don't do anything adequately.  Poor QB, poor line, running backs seem to go the wrong way in hand offs, receivers are bad...the entire offensive staff must go.

The ball handling of Fancher, and to some extent Ali, has been an under the radar problem for sure.
It's been under the radar because the passing game is so atrocious.

Beyond that the tackling is maybe the worst I've ever seen. The amount of half arse attempts, just running past the ball carrier (for some reason), and lazy dive and misses is insane. It's like we are too scared to tackle. I swear we are faking like we are playing hard but don't want to hit anyone. Guys get to the ball then don't even try to wrap a guy up.

I've noticed this too.  There's just something wrong all of a sudden with this team.  You don't go from beating Va Tech to not being able to even score on coastal or stop their 3rd strong Qb without a serious lapse in focus and/or effort and/or coaching. It's just odd albeit hyper frustrating as well.

  • It's always been the game plan, that Fancher throws 0-5 yard passes to try and get a first down, so Ali can have another chance to score.  Ali scores 3-5 times and Fancher scores 0 or once and that is our gameplan.

I said all teams needed to do is sell out to stop the run.
