  • The HERD is currently in last place in the East (WOW).

To be bowl eligible, we need two wins with the following games left:  Appy State, Georgia Southern, South Alabama, and Arkansas State.

Appy State is one game ahead of us in the basement.

Georgia Southern is in second place in the East; based on their game last week, we will be embarrassed.

South Alabama:  in a 4-way tie for second in the West.  I'm looking forward to this game.  I still don't know much about them.

Arkansas State:  also in the 4-way tie for second in the West.

  • Not to get anyone's blood pressure up with my usual spoutoffs ... but the SBC will help make certain that we go to a bowl.

FWIW I seriously doubt we will see a ball that obviously hit the ground be called an INT against us ( shades of @MIA FL ) in the remaining games ... but we still have to show up.

  • Gonna be hard to make a bowl with a 4-8 record.    I don't see a game this team can win.  Maybe an outside shot at Ark St at home in front of 5100 fans.

  • Two home games remaining including the November 14 Memorial Game. I wouldn't dismiss 2 wins here.

Herd1990 makes a good point, gonna be hard to do in front of a fan base where the enthusiasm has been destroyed. I just don't know what to make of Appy State and don't see a win in South Alabama.

I can see 2-2 down the stretch, I can see 1-3.

I can tell you this, I am no longer making the trip to App and probably won't even consider South Alabama even with family in Alabama.

  • I see 1 more win.  I will be at App St and hopefully will see Cole start.  We know what Fancher is so let's understand our go forward options.  I can deal with losing as long as we are building something.

I would begin practice today seeing if Cam can catch!  Kids an athlete, use him.

  • I think we win the two home games. I know Georgia Southern is much better but we always play well for the Memorial Game other than the UAB game.

Yeah let?s make him a WR with 4 games left in the season

He should b able to learn that position in a practice or two

Might b the most irrational thing I have ever heard

    Great idea!
What is your rational?  Keep him at qb?  Players switch positions ALL the time.
And in case you don't watch the games, we have nobody that can catch!

  • I don't see how we win even against the lower ranked teams in the remaining schedule. On paper, we should've been close to the level of Coastal (who are having a bad year overall and were without McCall), but we saw how that went.

He is a QB. He knows the plays and the route tree. He could easily go be a wr

  • I don't think finishing the season at 6-6 and then potentially playing a FIU or Bowling Green type team in the Bahamas is out of the question. Probably depends a lot on how badly demoralized the team will be after getting thrashed in Boone in front of a sellout crowd. We might even be past the point of no return in that department.

I suspect Arkansas State will be the only game remaining in the schedule we're favored in. There are very few gimme games on our conference slate. South Alabama and Georgia Southern are going to be a handful.

It's honestly kind of crazy just how good the Sun Belt East is. We used to only play 2 or 3 conference games against FBS top 100 teams. Now it's almost all of them. Talk about getting exposed.

  • I think this depends on the QB decision going forward.  If there is no QB change then I say no bowl.  If there is a QB change then I think our odds go up some but there is a wildfire factor that could push odds of yes up more with a change.
I don't like to lose, and that isn't so much because it is just a football game, but because defeat means the failure to reach your objective. I don't want a football player who doesn't take defeat to heart, who laughs it off with the thought, 'Oh, well, there's another Saturday.' The trouble in American life today, in business as well as in sports, is that too many people are afraid of competition. The result is that in some circles people have come to sneer at success if it costs hard work and training and sacrifice.- Knute Rockne

  • I see ARST as the only thing close to a certain win.
If we do go bowling, I won't expect great ticket sales regardless the venue or opponent

. . . then if MU has an option they should decline a bid.  Spend the offseason working on what needs to be corrected and done.  Mainly cull the "deadwood" and non-productive entities from both the Coaching staff and the team roster.  However, the SBC may require MU to accept a bowl bid if eligible in order to fill the League's bowl slots and keep ESPN folks, mainly, happy!!

if MU finishes 6-6, they're going to a bowl.  If they would finish 5-7 and get offered a bowl because they always seem to have a hard time filling enough 6-6 teams, I'd agree with declining it.
