  • He can pass a football but not catch and block.  Fancher starts and duds bc can?t run anymore & passing is erratic.  Herd scores a TD.   Herd ends season on major L streak.  OC/DC/OL coaches replaced.

If Chuck says it, that's correct!

Landon is not credible as he is a classic luddite.
He is stuck in the 90s

    Penny2.0 looked just awful

As did our starting qb. The question remains would Pennington look better if he got all the reps Fancher gets in practice. Change develop and get better over time, something Fancher hasn?t done

  • Only a fan with no knowledge of QB basic skill sets and progression would say Pennington looked horrible.  It was what would be expected in throwing a RS Freshman into a game where you are down 21 points.  He did not look lost nor like he did not understand the offense and in fact moved the ball downfield better than we had for  the Coastal game and the last two losses.  Alternatively the person saying it may be nothing more than  a USPAM fan seeking to stir the pot with Marshall fans or perhaps they have a direct relationship with someone who would have an interest in who is tapped for QB. There are elements a position like QB only learns in game. Pennington may not prove to be the future QB, but anyone who will base that in 1.5 quarters from the Coastal game really has no clue about college football.

I don't like to lose, and that isn't so much because it is just a football game, but because defeat means the failure to reach your objective. I don't want a football player who doesn't take defeat to heart, who laughs it off with the thought, 'Oh, well, there's another Saturday.' The trouble in American life today, in business as well as in sports, is that too many people are afraid of competition. The result is that in some circles people have come to sneer at success if it costs hard work and training and sacrifice.- Knute Rockne

Penny2 with 2 years of 1st team reps and starts would be a better Qb than Cam Fancher.  30TD passes by year 2.  He would have no choice .... lol.

  • Logically, you give each QB reps in preparation and at the end you put each QB in about 10, 4th down down and 10 scenario's and you let competition determine who starts.

That's how you keep the team from dividing into team Cole and team Cam, because they see who won.

  • Exactly correct.  Competition within teams is respected when one player is better than another.  Want to find a real quick path to lose a team? Let the players see you don't give others a fair chance to compete which is compounded when they know and see good performance from those not considered.  Equally, if you are appropriately trying to limit turnovers and then don't address a situation where one player clearly has a turnover issue, they will lose respect for the Coach.

    I disagree.
The only way you split reps 50/50 is if you're going to start Fancher and that you're not sure Fancher will physically be able to be effective and need to be replaced.
If you've seen enough of a hobbled (or unhobbled) Fancher, then Cole gets 100% of the first team reps. He needs the rehearsal time if the Herd's gonna have a chance.

    The team?
I'm guessing that they'll support whoever starts.

    For us Herdiots?
    We've seen enough of Fancher.

    For Huff & Trickett?
I suspect that there's really not an obvious answer at this point & that Tums are being eaten like peanuts.
