  • I've never tried this before, but I'm going to try to have two ESPN+ windows runnig I once so I can watch the MU game, but switch to the JMU game to see how things are going.

JMU starts before us by 15 min.  Looks like the crowd is fired up in Hburg.

  • JMU 1 - UCF 1 with 14 minutes to go...

If that scoreline and Alex Stjernnguard's goal hold, we win the league.

  • And the final matchday sees a shock, a near shock, and the final standings set...

    JMU 2 - UCF 1
In the 88th minute, JMU's Cameron Arnold takes a through ball from Kevin Larsson and gives the Dukes the upset win over #1 UCF, costing the Knights a trophy.

    Marshall 2 - South Carolina 0
Free kick goal from Stjernegaard and a followup from Garcia-Pascual gives the Herd the three points needed to win the SBC Regular Season Championship Trophy.

    WVU 2 - ODU 1
After ODU finds a late equalizer, Tsukata converts a penalty kick with 33 seconds remaining to give the Mountaineers a critical win for RPI!

    Georgia State 1 - Coastal Carolina 0
The Chanticleers season comes to an end finishing bottom of the table, and the Panthers secure their spot in the conference tournament.

    Kentucky 1 - Georgia Southern 0
Dorsey's 52nd minute goal the difference for the Wildcats!

    CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT SEEDINGS

    1 Marshall
    2 UCF
    3 WVU
    4 JMU
    5 Kentucky
    6 Georgia State
    7 South Carolina
    8 ODU

    Out 9th Georgia Southern
    Out 10th Coastal Carolina

We will face ODU on Sunday in the first round of the conference tournament!  We would then get the winner of Kentucky vs JMU in the semifinals - an incredibly tough matchup no matter who it is.  Both teams are around the bubble for the NCAA Tournament, so whoever we would play there would be playing for an NCAA birth.  But one game at a time - we MUST beat ODU after our embarrassing exit in the first round of the tournament at home last season.

Looks like GA State and South Carolina are switched based on the bracket, but it doesn't really matter for us.

  • Sorry, I corrected it on the SBC board but not here.  The UCF broadcast had USC and Ga State incorrect, but I had corrected that earlier on the SBC board. Yes, Ga State has the tiebreak over USC due to their head-to-head win.

  • Just wondering why the bracket says that the #1 and #2 seeds will host the semi's ... even if the former(s) have been eliminated (?)

Doesn't make much sense to have the winner of the other part of the same bracket game to have to travel to the site of the #1/#2 seeds if they have lost in the 1st round. There has been plenty of time to correct the graphic if what I am pointing out is not what was intended. I would have thought the "highest remaining seed" for the Finals would have been replicated at the semifinal level.

I misunderstood the question.  Marshall hosts a mini-tournament and will host the semis even if MU is somehow eliminated by ODU.  Then, the highest remaining seed hosts the finals.

Given that the teams only have a three day turn around between the first and second game and have traveled to the host city I see some sense in having the teams stay put and play the second round game in the same place rather than having to relocate during the short turn around time.  It's probably easier to make lodging arrangements for the whole week than it is to move on short notice and locate lodging, move team equipment and plan for a game.

I believe this scenario happened last season.  Marshall hosted but got eliminated in the first round.  The second round matchup had less than stellar attendance, as neither team was on its home pitch.
