  • Reporters - stop being easy on him or feeling sorry for him.  Ask him why he didn't have a better game plan and where are his recruits.   That is what the alumni and casual fans want to hear at this point.  No more excuses.  Own up to it.  Stop pandering to him.  Ask him about his gameplan and adjustments.

  • He blamed the Oline, credited Fancher for "running the ball better" when he did 1 lucky play very late, and he said "throwing the ball is tough when you can't protect" lmao what! You think a QB needs 6-7 seconds?? I swear there should be an investigation into what Fancher knows about Huff.

  • I wish journalism existed.  How can he not get asked about a QB switch?  Just keeps saying believe in the process.  Well the process is not working.  Does he also believe in the tooth fairy?

Seriously what's up with the fluff questions? Has the media been told they will be banned if they get tough? Has the AD/President requested it stay this way? It's very strange that nobody asks anything hard.

The reporters would rather have access and be friends with the coaches than ask tough questions and not be liked by the coaches. It's that simple.

Bingo, hate to say it but things going on culturally at the time of his hire influenced the decision.  He hadn't even been a coordinator and we made him our head coach.

  • I will at least give Landon credit for writing the recent article detailing why Pennington should have started.  Closest thing to an appropriate challenge of coaching decisions I have read recently.
I don't like to lose, and that isn't so much because it is just a football game, but because defeat means the failure to reach your objective. I don't want a football player who doesn't take defeat to heart, who laughs it off with the thought, 'Oh, well, there's another Saturday.' The trouble in American life today, in business as well as in sports, is that too many people are afraid of competition. The result is that in some circles people have come to sneer at success if it costs hard work and training and sacrifice.- Knute Rockne

  • Not sure who?s a HC and who?s been only a AC.  HC is much harder. But very few are consistently successful at it no matter the situation !  😎

  • There was one reporter asking the questions.
He did ask about changing play calling assignments, which is kind of a tough question.

    OK, here's the thing...
Yes, Huff should be asked about changing QBs. But we already know what Huff's answer would be.

    Here's another thing...
Watch the presser again. When he's talking about the 'available pieces', he is implicitly acknowledging the lack of talent on his roster.

It would be really nice if we had access to the all 22 tapes.

  • I don't buy the talent excuse at QB.  There were elements of Pennington's limited play that made me believe he has high upside potential.  A quick decision by a QB covers a number of O line failures.

I would buy that this coaching staff is weak at recognizing QB talent.  They were the only group recruiting Fancher as QB.  It would not be the first time our coaches miss a QB who even ends up in the NFL.

Yeah, I agree about the QB spot.

But he was speaking in general regarding the rest of the 'pieces' that needed to be moved around or subbed in for, etc.
And we have to acknowledge that the issues with the 2013 squad extend far beyond the QB and the 'play calling'.
Offensively, is one of the least talented crews assembled in probably 50 years.
There are others in contention for that title, but the '13 offense would be brought up in any bar or barbershop discussion regarding a half century of Herd football.

Of  course!!  But you do realize that the questions are reviewed, revised and scripted, if necessary, BEFORE the show goes live on the air!!!

That's what is absolutely crazy. After our third loss, any other coach would have switched QBs, play calling, etc. in an attempt to spark a change and get us moving in the right direction. We now have five straight losses, looking at six, and Huff isn't going to make any changes...at all. I really don't understand what he's trying to accomplish.
