  • Sorry we are winning, and looking amazing. I know it hurts your soul.

I am loving this team right now. I hope we can keep up this energy. Team is playing with 100% of their hearts. They do this every game and we're gonna be a tough out.

Won't know anything until they play a real team.

We could play duke and be up 20 and you'd bitch. Most of us are happy we are winning and looking like a good team doing it. Queens isn't a pushover. They have had a solid program the last several years.

  • Voyles already with double digit points 6 minutes into his Herd career.

Quick passes, playing big, shots going up, rebounding, and defense thus far.

    MEAC has physical guards

I am appreciate of any Herd win but Queens is not a good team and finished 9th in a bad conference and lost their best player.

  • We aren't boxing out on defense. We are standing and watching as the shot goes up the last four minutes. We need 5 bodies on 5 bodies.

    Queen's isn't going away.

They have won 48 games over the past 2 years and nobody knows what kind of team they have this season, just like everyone else. They are a division 1 opponent. And outside of the past 4 minutes, we have absolutely dominated every aspect of the game.

Queens has caught fire making everything they throw up and the zebras aren't helping

  • Up 9 but Queen's found some stuff against our defense the last five minutes.

Queen's really started to attack us with dribble penetration and we quit playing gap protection. Queen's also went after us on the offensive board and got several 2nd chances by out-hustling us.

If they keep penetrating on our man defense, Dan will need to try some zone. Queen's is much smaller but they found some stuff off the dribble towards the end of the half.

We started out 33-13. Queen's outscored us 23-12 during that last stretch.

  • Well, it took a while, but the "vaunted" D'Antoni Swiss Cheese Defense finally made its initial appearance of the 2023-24 season!!  As a result, this is anybody's game at the half.  In year 10, it's the same-o, same-o Danny D high school brand of ball, HERD FANS!!!

I just said they have figured out the Dantoni system. They are attacking because our lateral defense is so bad. Conner can't guard guards. And Fricks and Martin both give up penetration. Help defense is slow and bad like every year. Voyles and Curfman need to hit some 3s or it's going to be a game.

I will give him credit for his first game. He does some good commentary. He will get better the more games he works.

  • the last play where Curfman went iso/solo was not very well done, it was telegraphed.  don't know why we didn't set up a "team" option play there.

I chuckled when we held Queens scoreless for 5 minutes and Ot said the only time we did that when he was playing was at halftime!

  • I tuned in late when it was 33-13.  Impressions since I have been watching/listening:

We gave up too many free drives to the basket.
We gave up several uncontested 3?s (and paid for it with two makes).
Curfman should not be counted on to create his shot at the end of a half.
Like what Ot says (nice insight), but hard to listen to that monotone delivery.

Again, I missed all the ?good? as I tuned in after we had a 20 point lead?and things looked shaky from there.

Hope we go back to the way we were apparently playing earlier in the game.

    Go Herd!

  • We need one real strong run to put this game away. I don't like Queen's hanging around. They have a lot of drive and kick guys.

We also really need one more quality guard this year. Nutter is okay, but he is a freshman. We needed someone who could give Voyles and Curfman another break without losing production.

  • Martin has to take it hard to the hole off the pick-and-roll. That is twice that he has put up a softee after a pick-and roll.

  • Up 14 and it looks like Queen's best player may be done for the night. Time to finish this game off.

Crawford does some good things in transition.....good court vision and he can stroke the 3 in transition.

Goodness, they finished last year in 9th place, NINTH PLACE, in the Atlantic Sun behind North Florida who was in 8th place, not FSU or UF; North Florida. There are in the Atlantic Sun, not the Atlantic Course Conference.
