UK and WVU have been playing really well lately. Will be two tough back to back games if it happens.

  • Finished up 3-0. Looks like a rematch against WVU. I'll bet Grassie has something for them.

  • Does anyone know if Sunday is sold out? I don't see tickets on Herdzone  or will they not be on sale until tomorrow?

Most of the reserved tickets will go to season ticket holders who signed up to pay for tickets throughout the SBC tournament.  However, there will be some GA tickets and then they will sell lots of SRO tickets.

  • The Herd's amazing depth really helped out tonight.  Duggan and AGP did not start and Adam Aoumaich did not play at all.  Bamford started for Duggan.  Duggan came on when Amaro got hurt.  Fujita came on when Bamford got hurt.  And the defense did not miss a beat.

First 30 minutes was very even.  UK had more dangerous moments than we did early on.  But once AGP and Duggan came on in the last 15 of the first half big MO began to change.  AGP's goal early in the 2nd half really changed things.  UK sent more guys forward and we found a lot more space.  We controlled the ball much better in the 2nd half in part because UK was more desperate and less disciplined.

Grassie was able to sub a lot in the 2nd half in very strategic ways.  Putting Adjetey in and then letting Perotta and the back line just play away and let his speed chase down ball after ball was fantastic.  Kept the ball away from our goal and actually created several dangerous moments for us.  Roberto's goal putting us up 2-0 occurred during this period.  All this kept the ball safely away from our goal.

In the last 15 Grassie decided to put Bell, Silva, and AGP back in.  Silva picked up where Adjetey left off.  He took the ball I think 3 times to the end line and passed it back into the box.  The 3rd and final time he finds Bell's foot who finishes it off.

This match was a great way to get us ready for the NCAAs.  We have now secured a Top 4 seed in the tournament, which guarantees us home matches all the way to the Final Four as long as we win.  The match Sunday will be electric.

  • We had a vey difficult time getting the ball out of our half of the pitch most of the first half as UK played high & pressured the ball.
It was a very physical match, which might not have been apparent on TV.

AGP's steal & break away goal released all sorts of tension in the stands!

  • UK and JMU are on the bubble of the NCAA tourney.  According to RPI (at this moment) they would be the last two in.  Being in the Sunbelt will help them.  In addition, they've been playing very well as of late.  UK had been undefeated for 8 straight matches until we beat them tonight.

Would love to see 5 Sunbelt teams in the NCAAs.

That'd be great for the conference; however, I don't want to have to see UK again down the road. IMO, they do match up well against us.

Yeah, we'll be fired up but we deserve to be Number 1 whether we win or not. We played the best, better schedule and more quality wins. Screw WVU, bunch of inbred hicks

Bad news from the WAC - their tournament 1 seed Seattle (RPI of 28) gets upset in the semifinals on a penalty kick in the 110th minute, which means the WAC is stealing an at-large bid. Kentucky and JMU have flipped positions and JMU is now the last in per the rpi tracker...

So looking around the conference tournaments, I see three tournaments left that can affect the number of at-large bids left with bid stealers playing for the auto-bids (and one bubble team still playing)...

    CAA
Anyone other than Hofstra (RPI 8) winning the tournament is stealing an at-large bid.

    Summit League
Anyone other than Denver (RPI 20) winning the tournament is stealing an at-large bid.

    AAC
FAU (rpi 113) vs Charlotte (rpi 30)
Probably the most interesting case yet. FAU winning the tournament is stealing an at-large bid (likely not happening), BUT Charlotte losing this semifinal game, and then FAU losing to SMU in the finals, may actually free up a bid. At present Charlotte has an RPI that's in, but the rest of their resume is fairly terrible (SoS of 80th, no Quad 1 wins or draws, has a really bad loss to UNCG). Charlotte may bubble out if they are close to the line, so they may be playing for their NCAA lives tomorrow.

If we win or officially draw, we will finish #1 in RPI and will be #1 overall in the tournament seeding.

If we lose, Notre Dame will be overall #1 and we'll be overall #2.
