  • Apparently doesn't exist. Not one story in any "major" news outlet about the purge on Saturday and no opinion articles with any sourcing.
The story was broken by 24/7 sports. Pitiful.

  • Print journalism is nearly dead in WV and in other most smaller markets. I don't see it changing so you had better get use to the new media. Even larger markets, newspapers are a shell of themselves. WSAZ did have it on their website yesterday.

  • That is the problem with all media today.  15 minute news cycle.  Watergate would not be an issue today, it would go away quickly.  No one ever asks hard questions at the press conferences.  The challenge is deciding what is true and what is not.

All media is agenda driven today verses fact driven.

Apparently MU has NO Sports Info. Director who can or does write articles on MU sports and released them to the Associated Press where they can be used by AP papers Statewide.  This is, apparently, what is done re: WVU sports.  Writer in Northern WV, Hertzel, believe from Clarksburg, write extensively on WVU FB and BB, and his stuff is found heavily in H-D media papers like Charleston, etc.  Same goes for a writer, Kinder, who writes for an independent outfit, Blue-Gold News, and whose articles are also heavily shown in the Gazette and others.

Not sure that the AP even has a writer who covers the Huntington-Charleston markets but if so, he or she evidently puts out little on MU sports (and maybe he or she get LITTLE or NOTHING from the MU Athletic Department TO PUT OUT on the wire service to other State papers).

One example of this is the Bluefield paper which is found in several Southern WV counties.  They contain NOTHING on MU sports on a regular basis, and certainly don't have personnel to cover MU sports events personally.  But they have regular articles, by the above sources, on WVU sports.  And since they circulate in several Virginia counties they cover some Virginia college sports, including JAMES MADISON.  Articles on JMU sports always are annotated as an AP article!!

Really be interesting to see just WTF really goes on in the MU Athletic Department when it comes to its system, IF ANY, on getting out info on MU sports to the Media, other than that locally in the Huntington-Charleston area!!

  • For those who downplay the print media and think the local media like TV can make up the coverage needs for sports, think again.  Ever watch local TV sports segments on the local news shows on area and State stations?  Those sports segments are essentially "blurbs" lasting anywhere from one and a half to about three minutes during a 30-minute evening, nightly, etc., newscast.  Can't really get much in-depth news and info on any particular event, sport, etc.  Maybe a final score and one or two plays on a film clip.  just not enough time for any in-depth coverage of any sport on such sports segments.

You're kidding, right?  They don't even have a Watergate that actually occurred but they're fabricating as many as they can to slur a presidential candidate and former president.  It wholly depends on your side of the aisle as to whether something get swept under the rug or aired out for everyone to see.  I agree it's all about agendas.  MSM broadcasts every bit of BS thrown at the wall to see what sticks, but completely hides the real corruption of the current sitting regime.

  • It isn't just local newspapers.  Print media at all levels appears to be in decline and even dying.  https://dnyuz.com/2023/11/28/popular-science-shuts-online-magazine-in-another-sign-of-decline/
