  • I don't see how you judge him giving half effort, but maybe you know stuff you're not specifically sharing.  If he just doesn't do it "your way", that one thing. If you know he isn't attentive, doesn't put forth effort, that's another.  Who he chooses to sign and who he wants on the team may not match your desires, but if he isn't trying to get players, that's another. He did get Handlogten, Kinsey, Elmore, Obinna (who I know you touted for years), Taylor, and many more.  Did he not work for them?

So you think allowing 4-5 players to sit on the bench 4-5 years, he knows can't produce is doing 100% to make the program better? Come on!!! And the excuses every year are getting old. And maybe he can get lucky and win the SB this year since there are so many bad teams. But that wouldn't even excite me because we would get embarrassed in the tournament with this team because he left so many scholarships sitting on the bench. But if you enjoy how it's going then congrats!!!

  • You are not alone. More posters are coming to the conclusion that Dan needs to retire. Some may not be as vocal as you, but they are becoming larger in number.  I have a friend who didn't renew up 6 SIX center courts seats this year. He has been a basketball season ticker holder for years or decades. Losing those seats and the required donation is a sign of fans wanting a change.

I know others that didn't renew as well. Honestly, I never thought I would give up season tickets as long as I had them and as much as I care about Marshall basketball. But I can deal with Jirsa or Herrion that just couldn't get it done more than Danny that could but just wont because of his hard headedness or lazy recruiting. He is a great talker and salesman but doesn't put the program first because he is to busy running a daycare.

  • A list I put together a while back, it doesn't include transfers , I could have missed some in that time period.

    D'ANTONI'S RECRUITS

    Aleksa Nikolic
    Milan Mijovic
    Brett Bowling
    Ajdin Penava
    Aleksandar Dozic
    Jacob Kilgore
    Noah Frampton
    Terrence Thompson
    Ky're Allison
    Phil Bledsoe
    Jarrod West
    Dani Koljanin
    Jannson Williams
    Darius George
    Taevion Kinsey
    Ante Sustic
    Mikel Beyers
    Iran Bennett
    Marko Sarenac
    Goran Miladinovic
    Cam Brooks-Harris
    Jeremy Dillon
    Obinna Anochili-Killen
    David Early

Not a glowing recommendation for recruiting prowess.

Out of 24 I counted 16 or 17 that were total busts. I will say this year that Martin was a good addition because he has some meat and is decent around the basket. And I am surprised at Nutter. Much better than I thought and he has a meanness about him Danny's teams never had. Other than those 2 I'm not seeing any growth but I do like those 2. Been nice to got a couple more.

It's gotten somewhat better the past couple or so years, just too little too late.

I don't think there's much of a chance of winning SBC. But disagree if we did it wouldn't be worth embarrassment of getting hammered in NCAAs. Plenty of teams get beaten badly in NCAA's. There are about 1.4 million reasons to go to NCAAs (or whatever the units are worth these days). Nobody could probably tell you the scores or teams from biggest blowouts last year without looking it up.  Sadly, I doubt we'll have to worry about it.
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

Bust quit being a Maroon and trying to hedge your bets. Quit talking about potentially getting embarrassed in the ncaa tournament when your whole existence in life is to say how bad DD and the basketball program are. If they are truly that bad then you wouldn?t even consider making the NCAA tournament. Yes, you will say the league is bad, well obviously we can?t be too bad if we can still win a bad league. Either we are the worst program in existence or have the worst coach in existence or we don?t. Cant claim how bad we are then keep hedging your bets with the ignorant opinion we?d get embarrassed in an ncaa tournament. Spewing nonsense

Yes the league is that bad. There are only 2 teams that stand in anyone's way. App St and JMU. And one bad game and they could get upset by anyone. That Kentucky game is what would happen to us in the NCAA. We would be a 15 seed or most likely a 16 seed playing a #1 seed most likely. It would get really ugly.

I don?t think it will get that far anyway. Danny said in his postgame that the big prize is at the end of the season. Well, you?ve seen how well that?s gone.Enough said

  • yep, even if we somehow get to the SBC tourney, and i hope we do, the program needs a fresh start.  DD gave us the last fresh start and we thank him for very good program management off the court and the fewy good years on the court.  the fan base, and frankly, the players, deserve more consistent and better results overall.  the fan frustrations were no different in CUSA

If the only thing that matters is the end of the season and the rest is just warm up games, why ask fans to buy tickets to games that don't matter?

Since the games don't matter why not let people in free?
