The article talks about how Coach Huff interviewed for the Duke job two years ago and he could be a viable candidate this time around.

I said 2 weeks ago that we beat Arkansas State and if he wins the bowl game, he's gone.  I just hope it's happens quick so we can have a shot at hiring a better coach before they're all swept away by other programs.

If I'm a Duke FB fan, I'd be getting sick at my stomach at the thought of Coach Close the Gap being hired.

An athletic director and anyone above him or her that has to approve the hire would be sticking their necks out to hire Huff with his record.  I doubt there is an athletic director in FBS that would be willing or able to put his or her career/paycheck on the line to take that gamble. 

Huff's FBS win record is 18-16 over three seasons for a 53% FBS win percentage.

I can see him being a viable candidate in their eyes. Like the article, all they're probably seeing is...wins against Notre Dame and Virginia Tech...assistant coach at Alabama and Penn State...22-16...

According to the top of this article, year 4 begins on February 1st, 2024.  I think you're correct if he leaves before January 31st.

The speculation continues and it seems the JMU coach is being mentioned most often as a possible candidate. Writers are just throwing out names at this point. FWIW: Except for Huff the Raleigh newspaper list of candidates doesn't seem to match the below lists. Maybe the Raleigh writer is their Chuck Landon. LOL

The writer mentioned that in his article he was writing only about the candidates that had interviewed for the Duke job when Elko was hired.  He speculated these same candidates would be interviewed again.

because they did not extend him, I think they would let him out, or with very favorable terms, like a couple of gift certificates to K & W cafeteria.

Are those of us who go to the games wrong about Huff?  I have seen mismanaged games, poor recruiting (he has relied on Docs players) and finishing last in our division.  What am I missing as I believe Huff would have been let go if he had lost Saturday.

I would now not be surprised if Huff gets the job.  Too much smoke and Huff interviews well because he is a big talker/
