Fancher's 21 points against Ark State would be more impressive if AS hadn't given up nearly 80 points the previous weekend to Texas State. I think Fancher can be effective if he runs the ball, every possession, at least 10-15 times a game.
I don't think he'll hold up physically though. He'll probably go about 4-5 games, then be down for a few weeks. The thing is, he's the only QB we have that can operate that scheme, so we'll have to change offensive schemes and game plans when we goes down.
I say bring in a proven passer and have an honest QB competition. It's not about our feelings or Fancher's feelings or anyone named Pennington's feelings, and most importantly it's not about who is "thought" to give us the best chance to win on paper. It's who actually leads an effective offense. Who actually throws touchdown passes and completes critical third downs. The more QBs that we have that can play and pass the ball, the better.
