Being a D1 head coach is a very hard job. You work countless hours, never see your family, live in front of computers watching game film, film of opponents and potential recruits. Anytime you get an off day you are in a car or on a plane going to check out potential recruits, building relationships with HS coaches, and visiting other college coaches looking for wisdom. It?s unbelievably hard which is why the pay is so high.
It?s much easier when you just take the money and don?t do all that other stuff. We pay a guy $700k a year to attend games and give him a really good seat to watch.
