  • What I know is that I wasted money on a pair of season tickets. I also know that I will not be going to any road games. Thought about going to Ohio. After last night, that is not happening. I don't care what happens against Duquesne. I'm going to ride this out, as I have already spent the money for the home games. I'm just not going to get too excited about things when we beat Bluefield (if that even happens).

  • I mean, most people with eye balls and a brain knew this team was gonna suck.  Poor X and O coach + a bunch of nobody's = this team.

Honestly I'm pissed at myself for not seeing it before I did because all the signs were there. I saw them but kept giving him the benefit of the doubt. I've even asked him about some of them. But he always comes across with an excuse and a know it all attitude. But some of the things he has done recruiting or should I say players that he wouldn't take. And im talking things that most don't even know about are head scratchers and I won't get into it on a message board. But his cheerleaders will be all happy when we win a game against someone like Ohio or Toledo because we will get hot from 3 one night. But this ship is taking on water make no mistake.
And what happened to him saying over and over that this team would grow like no other he has had blah blah. Now he says we aren't a good team and he needs to get involved? Also basically said he should have watered down the schedule for them. If we have a losing record 2 out of 3 years then Spears and Smith need to grow a set.

  • I have always given Dan the benefit of the doubt.  Always thought he had better insight then I did.  I'm starting to wonder.  I fully expected this team to win last night by double digits.  This team appears to be a mismatch of players that don't fit together.  If he hasn't been totally involved with this teams development, shame on him.   It is obvious he is frustrated by the performance of this team, it has been bad.  I wonder if he thinks it might be time to give it up, I have to imagine he has those thoughts.  A lot of work to be done over the next 3-4 weeks to enable them to have even a decent season.  This is what he has made and it very well might be the last season for Dan.  Would hate to see that, but he would have only himself to blame.  We will see if he can bring us out the pits we are in.

It all comes down to PG. Obinna and Martin would be a decent combo along with Curfman at shooting guard. But there is nobody to run this team. Danny couldn't see it and thought he could get by using Curfman and even Conner. That tells you all you need to know about his eye for talent and what he needs. Danny is still used to high school ball where you take what you have and do the best you can. This is college where a lot depends on who you go recruit. Nobody to blame but himself.

  • It is time for change as others talk.  I don?t watch last night due to other plans and seems like that was a good thing. I watched our girls play yesterday and in our new coach?s 7th game as Coach she  managed to keep her team in a game against an SEC school and pulled out the win at the end.  Our current staff has never beat a team from a major conference.

It really sucks to see how things have played out the past couple years.

  • I have bitten my tongue long enough and feel the need to unload. A little background?despite the commute between Huntington and Cincinnati, I have been a long time supporter and season ticket holder for more than 25 years. Gave up basketball tickets last year, and will be non renewing football next year.  My wife and I attended 2 games this year and gave away the rest of our tickets.

Admittedly, part of this decision is most likely age related ( I am the same age as our current head basketball coach), and I lack the energy, passion and interest to continue the commute. This NIL and transfer portal garbage sickens me and causes me to question the damage being done to college athletics. The three year contract extension given to our aging and mediocre basketball coach has been the final straw.  Even Coach K realized when it was time to step aside.

In the last year, I attended two men?s basketball games?MU at Miami last year, and the game last night.  Travis Steele had just taken over the Miami program after getting fired at Xavier. He inherited a depleted roster and got thumped by our guys in that early season matchup. Known as a really good recruiter, Steele hit the road and grabbed some steals adding 7 freshmen to his roster.  Two of them (both Cincinnati kids) combined for 33 points last night.  Freshman Evan Isparo #2 effectively ran their offense at point guard while scoring 16.  Talking about athletic movement of the basketball, our guys might want to study that tape.

The often repeated excuse that our roster is still young didn?t hold up last night. We were schooled by a roster full of youngsters and a coaching staff superior to ours. Yet, the power brokers feel obligated to continue on because DD has had a love affair with Marshall for 50+ years.  How many actual sightings of him gracing our campus actually occurred during those years?  I don?t know the answer to that question, but until his introductory press conference ten years ago, I don?t ever remember seeing him.
I was attending my granddaughter?s college graduation the day of the Coaches Tour stop in Cincinnati this past spring.  Upon returning, I was told DD was not in attendance, and when contacted that day, HE FORGOT!

Needless to say, after last night, I have seen my last in person game this year. And I don?t feel the least bit bad about it. Over the years, I have given time and probably more of my treasure than I should have. Now it?s time for those in authority to shove the politics aside and listen to a loyal fanbase that is quickly crumbling!

  • I still find it ridiculous we were told how fast this team was. How Martin, Obinna and Conner could take off on a break and not even wait on the guards. Well maybe in practice where the other teams guards are Braun, Theineman, Pruett and Sarenac. I said at the time that there was no way they replaced Taylor and Kinseys speed and experience and I was laughed at.

It's clear we need new head coaches for football and basketball

Time for Spears to step up and make great hires

    Go Herd!

We are going to find out a lot about Spears over the next 1-2 years. He has his work cut out and we will see if he has what it takes to hire coaches or just falls in line like Marshall ADs usually do.

Herdmeister is a great guy. I just hope everyone finally understands we need energy and a new direction. And it's up to the AD and Smith to make sure we get the right coach that understands recruiting with a 16 hour a day work ethic.

That is my point. You don't let donors pick your coach. Those 2 need to stand up and do the right thing.

I never said he was a bad guy. I asked where the updated practice reports are. I think that?s a fair question.

Do we still look good in practice? Has something changed at practice? Inquiring minds want to know.

he's incapable of saying anything even remotely negative about the BB staff or team b/c he has a personal relationship with every single 1 of 'em, & half of 'em's parents.  that's not a dig, that's just the truth going by what he shares on here.  with that being said, i don't blame him for not posting right now.  his posts would just get attacked viciously.
