  • Unprofessional with no accountability. Spears should be down there tonight telling him that next time he loses he gets his a$$ out there and fulfill his responsibilities.

Dan will bask in the glory when he wins but he thinks he is beyond talking about a loss. I supported men's basketball this season with a donation and two season tickets. I will not support this type of stuff next season.

This is becoming a joke. He thinks he is Coach K and sends out an assistant to do these interviews.

The coaching and preparation were bad enough. But this type of high school Charlie stuff is just disgusting.

Steve Cotton said he wanted to spend the extra time with the players in  the locker room.

  • Spears didn't give him a 3-yr extension to, 7 games into year 1, think a change is needed.

You'd have to be not so smart to give someone a 3-yr contract & pay him to go home after 1 year.  Spears knew what he was getting...we were 12-22 or whatever it was 2 yrs ago!

  • Steve Cotton said he wanted to spend the extra time with the players in  the locker room.

He did the same thing against Radford, Utah State, and Oakland.
The only time he's given a post game interview after a loss was to tell everyone that Cal said we had a good team.

Dan doesn't think he has to give an interview when the team loses and people will forget it and move on.

  • He just said in the post-game conference with the press that he is going to "change the way we practice. I am going to get more involved in practice." He says he "has to be an active participant in practice".

That statement in itself is telling.

Listening to this is painful. He has no answers. I think he knows he has assembled a terrible roster. He is talking about pep rallies before a game and how that doesn't work.

  • "Change the way we practice and I need to get more involved."

Was asked why with all the change up with the lineup. "Just trying to find something"

Said we have a fake enthusiasm and a pep rally with players in the locker room.

Dan says needs to be actively engaging in the practice and more in tune.

Says we are a young team and playing a tough tough schedule and maybe we should have eased into the season.

Crawford is a talented player, but he needs to buy into the team and system and will sit until he is ready.

Did say the teams that are winning in the Sun Belt didn't go to the portal and maybe we need to look at how we use it.

Did say we need to not switch as much on defense.

Lots and lots of talk and excuses in this post game....

So right after the game, coach is supposed to do an interview with the Dawg (the radio host channel with Steve Cotton) after the game and didn't do it and sent Cline.

He did the media teams/Skype interview with the media reps which is like 30 minutes after the game. Typically that is what gets posted on their YouTube channel.

  • I was walking right behind Miami bench as the teams were shaking hands after the game?.Dan got to the end of the line?.took 2 steps towards the radio table, stopped and looked at Cline and said, ?Mark, go do the radio, I?m not talking tonight.?

As those around during his tenure know Dan is all about Dan. Loves to smile and talk his style after wins, but when his team gets totally schooled, he ducks out the back door.

I got to sit just a few rows behind Miami?s bench tonight and it was quite a difference listening to their coach compared to Dan. Dan just paces and doesn?t communicate with his staff or players hardly at all during games.

Miami?s coach is in constant communication and his staff competes for ?points? giving suggestions during games. If they suggested something and it went bad he would look at them and ask about it?.if they suggested something and it worked he would look at them and say ?that?s a point??.

Also interesting that during timeouts Miami?s coaches the game went on he repeatedly told his players and staff  ?the more they have to guard us in the halfcourt the more they panic and lose control?

Dan is now here for the ride. He doesn't like to recruit and his assistants do virtually all of it. He doesn't like to get involved in practice and doesn't teach fundamentals. Almost all they do is shooting drills and scrimmage. Virtually no rebounding, fundamentals or defense. I've been to 100s of practices. It's time to move on with a fresh face and someone that understands recruiting GUARDS!!!!

He isn't walking away from a 700,000 dollar job with two and half years left on the contract.

  • This is why I do not like hiring former Herd legends. Most of the time you are going to give them longer than they should have and your program becomes stagnant (see Greg White). With Danny it is worse. Even if the AD wanted to fire him, I don't think he can. Danny just has too many "very influential" supporters behind him, and no AD is going to commit suicide over irate internet fans.

Sadly, our only hope is he resigns, or somebody can convince him to do so. I hope I am wrong, but just don't see him getting fired. And as a result, we will continue to be a stagnant program, at best.

Then if he has so many money people behind him, then they care nothing about Marshall basketball. Anyone with half a brain can see the %^&* show roster he has put together. His teams were always blacktop teams but he had Elmore or Taylor to at least run the chaos. Now it's chaos without a driver.

our Daughter, who's a student at Marshall, was at the game.  She called me after and asked if I watched it.  Then she asked me "Dad, why does Coach just stand there with his arms crossed and not say anything"!  I was speechless.  Then she said "the Miami coach was really into it and coaching his players but ours just stands there and doesn't say a word"!  Pretty telling!!

It's truly disgusting. He doesn't think his job is to actually coach on game day. Just let em play and have fun.

Difference is I never felt like Greg White wasn't trying or incapable.  He was easy to root for even though he never got over the hump.
