Danny and Herd player-of-the-game Martin ( 14 pts 10 rebounds IIRC ) and Jacob Conner ( 9 pts 9 reb. ) were interviewed a few minutes after the game, whereas Cline was on the PBP show right afterward which usually features Danny but not always.
Basically, let me first re-echo ( if that is a word ) that Danny is a great guy, wonderful personality and we should feel for him. Not that he's under pressure, most of us have the idea that is not the case at this stage. But he loves Marshall and is understandably uncomfortable with the Herd losing and our situation as fans/boosters/players/coaches what-have-you.
I'm going to try to remember a few things stated during the interviews.
Every player, from 1-16, [simply] has to buy into The System or it isn't going to work. I disagree with this sentiment somewhat - we simply do not have the horses right now. My opinion is that many good systems might make the difference in a handful of games over the course of the season.
Pre-game hype, jumping around, saying things isn't going to work. That it is fake. What is needed is a calm resolve. Jacob Connor later said that we were not ready to play. Swann pointed out after the interview that MiaO had an RPI of 269 I believe he said. The hint being that we took the opponent lightly and that in the college game today any opponent [could prove dangerous]. It has been pointed on the Board that UK lost again at home - this time to UNC Wilmington.
I liked the post that stated that we don't do a number of things well and that we don't have an identity. Long ago, probably on this Board I posted that our football team didn't have an identity. Probably 2014 after the WKU debacle, criticizing Coach Legg as then OC. I appologize now for not being able to remember more of what Danny said. My mind starts to fade about 10 PM - Father Time is whipping me. Could someone else please be encouraged to add more of what Danny said ? He did say obvious things like it's a long season and that we have to get better - obvious stuff.
