  • It was a good win for the guys IMO. Was it solid basketball, no, but I did see some bright spots, again MO. The thing that really impressed me was the grit they played with under 2 min and still down points. Ohio u was sloppy , surprised me out of a Boals team. I still believe you have to have Crawford on the floor , does he do things that makes you want to scream, you betcha bur he?s athletic, he can create shots and he?s another tall body.

I didn?t see Fricks or Goran. Fricks was confirmed by earlier post, Goran?

Nice job guys in NOT an easy environment!

  • Well the win did bump up our NET rating from #276 to #233 with the win yesterday. There are now only 232 college teams that are rated higher than The Herd as of yesterday's games. Let that sink in, we still have a long way to go to be a decent team. Hopefully the team will improve and move up to a respectable NET ranking.

With the loss to MU Ohio's Net ranking went from #138 to #167. It will be interesting to see the NET ratings once we are playing the SBC schedule. Toledo dropped from #91 to #94 with a home win over Northern Iowa who is now 3-7 last night.

  • Good win last night. It was sloppy, missed too many free throws, and turned it over way too much. But, in the end, Marshall pulled it out. Proud of the guys not giving up. The way things had been going, I expected us to fold at the end of the game. But we didn't and that's what really matters. Let's go to Toledo and get another win. Lost 4 in a row. No readon why we can't win 4 in a row.

  • I'm too lazy to watch the game again, but it seemed that the Herd put a lot of energy into defending. The switches were crisper and shots were contested. I can't say that it was always effective effort, but the 1st fundamental in defense IS effort.

I'm still not optimistic about the rest of the season, because shooting is still an issue.

  • glad for the win.  at present, two fairly equal low-mid-major teams.  glad both coaches/schools want to continue the series (108th is awesome) and that's definetly how it should be

Agree. It wasn't great defense, but the effort was there. I also liked that Voyles seemed to play more under control.  Voyles/Crawford have the potential to be our scorers, Martin/Oak provide a very athletic low post combo, Curfman needs to be our outside threat. The real issue is will Conner and one or two more players step up and give us some quality minutes.

  • Let's hope Dan's increased involvement in practice is paying off. It's nice to see us come back from a deficit to win. I'll give Dan credit that I've never seen one of his teams give up. They always play hard regardless of the score.

Based on what we saw last season, Connor's performance so far has been disappointing.

Seems he's lacking aggressiveness at times. I wish we could combine Fricks and Conners into one player. I'm rooting for both to get it all together. We need a Penava like breakthrough for one of these guys

  • Congrats to the team on the win.  Hopefully this is a springboard to the season and not just an anomaly.  I'm a Bengals fan and after they lost Burrow for the season, I told my son that I have no sports to look forward to until spring, because at that time Marshall basketball looked like a walking disaster.  Now after Jake Browning's performance on MNF, it has given the Bengals a glimmer of hope, and now with Marshall's win against Ohio, maybe there is some hope for the basketball season.  I've been a critic of giving Danny a 3-year extension, but I'd rather be wrong than Marshall not win.
