Someone with very, very close ties to the athletic department told me that Spears and Dan do not get along and do not speak to each other.  If true, and my source is impeccable. that is an awful scenario for Marshall basketball.

There were similar reports about DD and Hamwreck.

Whatever the reality is, DD needs to go.

This. Plain and simple, both fans and the program need a fresh start. A new coach would create excitement and push season tickets for next year.

Wouldn't be surprised, like another post stated Dan didn't speak to Hamrick and O'Malley. A person who can't get along with three of his bosses has ego or personality issues. Smith needs to step in and let the AD run the department, Management 201. Dan not showing up at Alumni/fundraisers is another bad sign.

Dan is nice to the practice boys, but behind close doors he is appears to be an a**hole.  Dan is not a Sabin who had earned the power to be his own boss (not sure if that is the case). Based on the hire of Kim, I think Spears would find us a good coach.
