  • And may actually get some coaching on game day. Corny said he wanted to tighten up the defense and get in peoples grill. Also said he would keep the same offense but also run some more set plays. Instead of just running your system in practice and the on game day folding your arms and saying just go play and I'll watch. We may see more coaching and a more disciplined team.

Corny will be involved a lot during the games!!  Hopefully he can get some chemistry during the summer....  Be aggressive, work hard every play, and this group could be something!!          Basketball could be back............................

Kill it with strength and conditioning and take a million shots in practice 😁

    Go Herd!

MORE strength training and would be okay with half the shots for more defensive drills and sets haha.

Exactly because that is almost all they did before was put up shots. I want to see a team that plays defense like their life is on the line. And he also needs to make Obinna put rebounding as a top priority. Martin averaged 10 rebounds and if they could get Obinna wanting to dominate inside 10-12 feet we would have something. I think Corny is going to have a much different approach and won't settle for just putting up shots.

Our 3 point and FT shooting were bad

Lack of coaching I suppose on mechanics of shooting?

Or not recruiting to your system? Danny always ran the same system but just took any recruit.

  • Hopefully we can get one more quality recruit.  Seems like Coach Jackson is making some headway in getting players here that can help us win.  Hope the best for him and his efforts.

Corny is doing great under tough circumstances

Ask around, we were screwed on NIL under DD

We have a chance to be good this year

    Go Herd!

I'm optimistic, but not necessarily for next season. After last year, finishing above .500 and winning a game or two in the SB tourney would show a lot.
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

  • Is the roster now set?
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • Cody Peck is Michael Peck's son.   Much better than his father was.

I thought Michael was a decent player for us. He saved us against UCF one year. I think it was Donnie's first game back after taking the UCF job.

  • Michael Peck played during the Dwight Freeman days, not for Donnie.

On another note, Cody plays for Tamar Slay at Carmel Christian (NC)

  • No worries!  I just saw Cody at UNCC team camp.  I told him I remember watching his pop.   His response - "dang, you're old like he is."   Pretty funny kid lol.

He will be tough to get. 6'10" and very agile and athletic. But I love that Corny is going after kids that other high midmajors and even a few of the big boys are going after instead of taking kids that nobody else is recruiting. Corny knows it's a talent driven game and he is looking at 100s of kids hoping to cash in on a handful. I have hope again about roster management and recruiting.

I get the feeling that the addition of Rob Fulford is helping out as well. Getting DD out of the way was a huge step forward. I've read other places that Corny plans to lean into NIL rather than run from it. I guess we will find out soon enough if Corny can actually coach the X's and O's.

So are we looking at Blake Barkley from Northwestern to come here?
