Southern Miss down 8-0 against Indiana in the fifth.

JMU is also up on South Carolina, 1-0, in the top of the 3rd.

Moment too big for their closer, tried to overthrow and plunked the guy, then gave up that bomb. Just brutal.

And in the next inning throws the ball in the outfield on a routine bunt to set up the game winning run. Kid will never forget this game and neither will the JMU fans.

Coastal wins. Other three lost and will play in elimination games on Saturday.

Coastal lost to Clemson 4-3. Will play elimination game vs High Point. If they win they must beat Clemson twice.  The other 3 teams all won their elimination games and must win multiple games on Sunday/Monday to advance.

I thing all three playing more that two games justifies the selection of 4 SBC teams into the tourney; optimistic of course.  But many league champs are heading home after their second games.  Congrats to the SBC, hopefully we can get at least three to their fourth game; that would be super IMHO>

All four teams have made the finals of their respective regionals.  4-0 today.

Which clearly indicates that if MU is going to compete SUCCESSFULLY in SBC baseball the caliber/level of its team talent is going to have to make a BIG Leap upward similar to the leap that MU made in terms of its facilities for that sport!!

It looked like all 4 teams are in action against the regional hosts this evening / tonight.

If any win they will will have to win against  said host again tomorrow.

Hopefully the SBC can get 1 team to the next stage.

And then there were none...

4 teams in the regional finals will have to be our mantra as baseball season is over for the Sun Belt.  Good showings but had nothing left at the end.

Very tough to play two elimination games in one day on field of the host (all top 16 teams including #1 overall seed Tenn). Getting 4 teams in the final 32, however, is something to be proud of.

WVU won it's region as a non host team in AZ. ECU still alive and will play another elimination game today at home vs Evansville.  Still wish SBC had added them and Liberty.

I have watched more this year than ever and it seems the key is pitching depth for teams that advance. But I guess that's true for baseball at any level.

Overall the Sun Belt is a really good G-5 league. Whether it is softball, baseball, Women's Tennis, Men's Soccer, or Football this league takes it's fair share of P-5 Scalps. Men's Basketball is the one area we need to improve in but JMU's win last year helped.

With all of that being said, looking at Tennessee, Clemson, and Texas A&M's baseball facilities just shows how far we are behind the 8 ball. While the SBC has nice facilities they are nowhere near the top of the power P-5's.
