  • News on the scheduling front includes word that Ohio State has cancelled a game with Connecticut set for 2025 in Columbus.  OSU has replaced the Huskies, who were set to get $1.95 million, with a game with Grambling.  UConn is set to get $650,000 for their "trouble".  Anyone know the exact payout figure MU is scheduled to receive for our game in the Horseshoe this season??

Elsewhere, Southern Cal and Ole Miss have cancelled their home and home series set for 2025-26.  MU needs THREE OOC games in 2025 and two in 2026.  Time for AD Spears to start working the phone and attempt to pick up a "Power" foe or so for those two seasons.  Let's face it, Ole Miss is not exactly SEC "Royalty"!! See if they would consider a home-and-home with MU in those 2 years.  Or see if they would make it worth our while, $$$$ wise, for the HERD to play a game in Oxford.  Time for MU to be "bold" in its scheduling approach, IMO.  Can't know the Answers till you ask the Questions!!

Would be shocked if Ole Miss would even consider a home n home with Marshall

  • MU should reach out to Ole Miss for 2025 and then go play at USC in 2026.  That would be a once in a lifetime trip to USC just like when we played ND.

Ah, but remember, Lane Kiffin's worst on-field decision (ever) came at the Joan in 2018 when he/FAU went for it on 4th and 1 at his own 13, while trailing only 17-7 in the middle of the third quarter.  I've never laughed so hard at an opposing coach.

I'm 64, but I'd hold a sign with "4th and 1 - GO FOR IT!" for Lane if he ever did come back to MU.

  • I think someone on here claimed we've filled all of the 2025 spots but haven't announced it yet for whatever reason.

  • I'd be cool with UConn instead of an FCS game. Works as a warm up most years but they're FBS.

Agreed but we'd rather play Central Conn. instead of the real Conn.

I mean, it makes sense if he knows his offense can't score another 10 points. No big difference in losing 24-7 than 17-7, so you may as well go for the yardage to try to win.

  • Had no idea we have only one of the four necessary OOC games for next year; wow, much work to be done for next season by the AD.

  • Wel in an H-D Media article today (Gazette), AD Spears was quoted as saying that MU was in line for a "special" out-of-conference game in 2025 and the game/opponent should be released/announced fairly shortly!

I don't like coaching decisions on plays which, if things do not turn out - even with a high probability of success - the game is basically lost. Kind of like when Mark Snyder accepted a penalty when the opponent is already 4th and long, even though we "got away with it". A reverse in our own end zone, not so much.

Suck part is they only beat us once by very little but have more CUSA championships because Doc couldn't beat MTSU or Charlotte or both in any given season.

These type games and the very bad blowout losses cloud Docs legacy.

  • Doc has no legacy...he ushered us to perpetual mediocrity.  He had some stacked teams in 13-14 and still underachieved.  He's no better than Snyder, just had easier schedule.  I'll bet Snyder put same or more in pros.

Somebody who seemed to know said the opponent wasn't that special and that it's somewhere we've already played before.

Based on that info and current openings, I think it has to be Purdue, Pitt, or South Carolina. Miami (FL), Houston, and SMU also a possibility but less likely.

Going to Miami to play the Canes would be a great road trip...

  • "Special" and someone we've played before with an opening in 2025 sounds like Miami (FL) or South Carolina.

Or their schedule announcement hasn't been updated yet, but is opening because of their opponent going from PAC to BIG.

Thoroughly enjoyed my last visit to Williams-Brice Stadium to watch the HERD.  Sure were a lot of Garnet and Black, and LIMP,
"Cocks". left on the turf in Columbia that evening!!  LOL!

As for a future opponent, or opponents, that we might schedule whom we've already played, anyone else want to bet that it won't be those "CHICKENEERS"??

South Carolina only has 11 games scheduled.  Georgia already has 12.  Not that this means anything, but there ya' go.
