  • Well that seems to make sense but injuries are usually not associated with contact per a National Institute of Health Study. 54 percent of football injuries in the study were non contact.
When broken down into risk factors the study found no relationship to the caliber of competition.

If your theory is correct then there would be more injuries in the SEC than in the SBC. And there is no evidence of that.
SEC vs SEC I don't think there would be more injuries because they're ALL bigger, stronger, and faster so they can absorb more damage. But when you put bigger, stronger, faster SEC athletes against smaller G5 schools, I could definitely see there being more injuries.

SBC kids vs SEC kids may tend to push themselves harder than they normally have to, as well, which could account for non-contact injuries, like pulled muscles and knee tweaks.  Underdog teams get "up" for big games but that puts their bodies on the line.

  • I think depth has more to do with it. When you are playing an Ohio St and they can run fresh bodies in against tired bodies then accidents are more likely also.

  • It will be a random FCS school for the last spot in 2025

    At Georgia
    Home Missouri State
    Home FCS
    At MTSU

    2026
    At Penn state
    At Missouri state
    Home MTSU
    Home FCS

Would rather, in lieu of a FCS foe, like to see if Spears can see if any MAC or CUSA schools have open dates in their OOC schedules for 2025 and would come to Huntington next year with a return game scheduled later in this decade

  • Can't believe we have to go on the road to play them. Ridiculous that Spears could not get them to come here.

Not nearly as ridiculous, Junky, as "Klueless" Kayo Marcum's scheduling "flub", like when he reportedly had Power foes like Miami, the one in FL, scheduled to come to Huntington, and then inexplicably let them OFF THE HOOK!!!!!!

  • Outside of Boise State coming to Huntington in 2027, our home OOC schedules are looking pretty "meh." I'm guessing we'll schedule FCS teams for home games in 2025, 2026 and 2027. Toledo has openings in 2026 and 2027. Wish we'd play them again. Those were some great games. And Toledo usually fields pretty good teams and playing them wouldn't hurt our strength of schedule.

  • Are you claiming that injuries occur more frequently as the level of competition increases

Do you have any injury data to support that or are u spitballin

The point I was trying to make is that lets hope we don't get a bunch of guys hurt in a game that we have a very slim chance of winning.

  • "The announcement of the 2025 game with Georgia means that Marshall will play five Power Five opponents in a five-year stretch, starting with the 2024 season." There's no such thing as the Power 5 any longer.

But there aren?t more injuries, to my knowledge there is no research to support your statement.
